Toyota unleashed the new Matrix in a Halloween-infused joint press conference here in Vegas. The production version of the new (Corolla) Matrix debuted across the street, but we were on hand to see the Rally version unveiled on the floor at SEMA. The new design lends itself well to some modifications, but like most of the vehicles here at the show, it's more about flash than function. The front-mount intercooler helps feed a supercharged version of the Matrix's 2.4-liter four. The OZ wheels and upgraded brakes speak to the concept's functionality, as does the stripped out interior, added fuel cell and multi-point rollcage.

As seen as a TRD option for the same 2.4 in the Scion TC. (which was formerly the Camrys 2.4 but anywho)

The super "rally" version is NOT the awd version almost goes without saying.

I think the issue at hand here is why does a supercharged engine need an anti-lag switch.

Thanks, that clears it all up. I'm going to radio shack to add an "anti lag" switch to my wife's minivan... she'll be teh fast then.

Toyota is funny.
They make great, highly reliable, decently priced cars, but they are not cool. Not cool in the slightest bit.
Every time they try to take one of their models and make a "sporty version" of it, they almost always seem to make it look goofy.

I like the new look of the Matrix, but this body kit makes it look funny.

"Supercharged" means it has positive manifold pressure. That can be achieved by a turbocharger rather than a supercharger, and still be technically called a supercharged engine. It is confusing though, yes...

I think you are going to start seeing a lot of vehicles like this coming out. Other manufactures jumping into the tuner market. There starting to relize that everyone doesent want a V8. Now lets see what the BIG 3 can do, besides lay people off:lol: /sorry thats not really funny. Poor people:sadbanana:

I'd rather have the G8 than this. It's bulbous in the front.

Remove the roof scoop, add AWD and I'd rock one.

it might have AWD, if its based on the XRS Matrix, AWD is standard if im not mistaken

how the heck is this a rally concept, you go over one hill with this car and its fish face drooping will just smack the pavement and burst into a ball of toyota reasonableness.

Yes, but we both know how these terms are commonly applied. Since this is built from TRD's parts bin, we can bet it is not a turbocharger.

That would explain why the shift boot looks so hacked... it's an Automatic.
