For some reason my 02 wrx wagon decided to stop turning on the interior lights when the hatch is open. Also the trunk light doesn't work at all. I've checked all the fuses and they're good. I've also ripped out the interior around the hatch 2 times and i couldn't find anything wrong except for one thing. There is a wire with a connector coming out around the rear window wiper that has nothing to connect to. It's just hanging there. If somebody has any ideas, i'd greatly appreciate it. I just want to see what's in the back of my car when i open the hatch. :diaf:

based on the symptoms, I would guess that connector should be plugged into the rear gate latch switch.

but there is nothing for it to connect to.

The door switch is a part of the latch assembly, so it could be that the loose plug connects to a two-prong connector on the latch bracket, but it can't just fall off. Have you looked at the wiring where it's covered by the rubber sleeve between the hatch and the body?
