I just purchased a set of JDM projectors fitted with a mcculloch 8000k hid kit. Install was real easy and i know they are wired up right. I was driving behind my friend and he noticed that the drivers side HID wasnt on so i pulled over and checked them out. I had to turn them on and off a couple times to get it to finally start up. So i rewired it and checked it out and this morning it took three trys turning it on and off to come on. I am thinking it may be a problem with the igniter it makes a loud buzzing noise?
Oh and the passenger side is working perfect.

If anyone has any ideas let me know thanks...

check the high beam connection at the bulb, if you bought a wire harness like wagon_ho. If you wiggle the wire and it comes on. remove the bulb and twist the connections slightly.

With hid avoid soldered connections.

common dude, try to be at least helpful.

as for the hid, im not much of a wiring guru, but i would double check all the connections making sure they are secure and well made. ie clean terminal etc.

well its not the high beam though its the hid lowbeam. I tryed wiggling the connections and it didnt make any difference.

I WAS being helpful. Its an HiD Kit. HiD Kits are known to fail. Once they start, theres nothing you can do but to move on.

piss off then as it happened to me with the high beam with wagon_ho wire harness splitter. Effecting the low beam not allowing my hella hid ballast to come on. Dick, I was trying to help.

haha dude that post wasnt ment for you i was talking to the guy who posted above you. You posted like 2 seconds before me lol.

Im confussed about how the high beam not working affected the low beam i wired up mine just like on the writeup on jdmpartstx.com not sure about the wagon_ho wire harness?

have you swapped the left and right bulbs to check if it's a bulb problem?

I'd suggest double checking your wiring. Seems tedious, but it'll save future hassles.

Sounds like a ballast is going to fail.

You know I have no idea as I never followed the wiring to figure what goes where. Yet your wiring is the same as wagon_ho. Just a mater of quality at this point.

Soldering does not always allow the ballast to work. It's unclear why that is the case. So if you soldered try to cut that part out and crimp it in place with shrink over it. That solved my problem.

Now as far as the high beam. It was strange. One day it's on the next it was off. I wiggled the wire and found the connection at the high beam to cause a strange problem. Once I twisted the 2 connectors in the bulb and reinstalled I never had the problem again.

Avoid testing the ballast directly from the battery as I killed mine

I hope that is more helpful.

thats what i was thinking espically since the ignitor is making a loud buzzing noise.

yea i didnt solder it i used butt conectors and tightly wraped them with electrical tape i might try using shrink wrap.

At this point i really dont feel like rewiring a third time. Its driving me crazy!

its probably the ballast. I had the SAME exact problem with my kit. I rewired everything, checked all grounds, switched bulbs, etc. My ballast wasnt outputing any power at all. I just put my stock bulbs back in.

Maybe you just dont know how to solder?

Al the OEMs solder their ballast pigtails. All my harnesses are thoroughly soldered. From kit ballasts, to OEM ballasts. Any issue Ive had, has come down to ****ty ballasts.

swap ballasts and see if the problem exists with the same ballast. Lightwerkz is correct.

Oh really you think? I did it for part of my job on equipment for medical. Want to bet your life of it? :p No crimp wires on hid are generally the best way to go. Normally I would agree with solder but in this case no I don't think it works as well.

I happen to agree about the ballast. Switch sides and see what happens. If the problem moves you know whats going on.
