My 02 WRX has 8700miles and I have noticed that the boost will spool up nicely to .1 or slightly past then drop to .05 and then repeat itself. When I go half throttle it boosts to .05 but I have to hit almost full throttle to pass that point. This problem is most noticable in 3rd 4th and 5th. All I have is a stromung muffler and silencer elimination. Any ideas? This has been going on for about a month and a half and the dealer claims they don't notice it under normal driving and won't push the car so it does it. Grrrr its real annoying. Anyone with a good idea of what this is? I tried explaining overboost or something but they told me I was no mechanic and leave the job to a professional.:rolleyes:

does your check engine light come on when this happens?did they check for codes.some thing like that could be several things.it almost sounds like the waste gate is not working properly.i have heard of th pre-cat clogging up.your condition sounds similar.

Nah, didn't throw any codes yet. Hopefully they will figure out what is going on. I was thinking of some kind of overboost cut out problem. THe car shouldn't be overboosting. It seems to be worse the colder it gets. I did have a high pitch whine when the car was cold but it goes away when the clutch is pushed in. My last problem SOA will be looking at is the drivers window "clunk" I love my car and I know it is no lemon just a first year out car! kinda looks like a lemon though:lol: Anyone else on this problem????help!

What is subaru's cure for this? I have noticed it since it got real cold. Its 45 deg out today and still doing it though. It is raining though.

do you have a high pitch whine when warm under full acceleration in 2nd and 3rd gear?or just cold.glenn is right about cold weather spiking-when it is cold my boost is never the same.
