View Full Version : N/A 1/4 mile times
silver_rs 05-13-2001, 08:40 PM Hi,
I was looking at the Quater Mile Registry, and I must say, I`m a little dissapointed of the times that the RS puts up. I just bought a 1999 RS and put the Stromung exhaust, Weapon R CAI and UD pulley in right away.
I have yet to take the car to the drag strip, and I think I won`t until I get the cams, headers and other things in because I`m afraid without I will put up low high 16s to low 17s !!!
I don`t know why, but I thought the RS`s were much quicker (high to low 15`s).
Oh yeah, can someone tell me if there`s something wrong with my CAI setup, as I installed it myself and I am a HUGE beginner in the field... It seems to pull a bit more in the higher RPMs, and the sound is awesome, but you guys might have some advice to get more performance out of it...

Thanks all
silver_rs 05-13-2001, 08:41 PM I just realised,
This picture is not very useful. I apologize, I will try to post one up that`s clearer.
Thanks
Heh, I ran a 15.690 @ 86.44 with just intake and exhaust, and my first time ever at a drag strip. There's an N/A RS on the board here that runs like a 14.44 http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/tongue.gif...You've also got to remember that our cars are just not drag racing cars ::shrugs::...But take it in the twisties and suddenly the car feels VERY fast http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/smile.gif
MichiganRS 05-13-2001, 11:12 PM I seen a Hybris stock RS run 15.2
Mainly with people that know the shift points they can pull 15.5-15.7
It wouldn't be hard to pull high 14s with a few more mods and weight savings.
silver_rs 05-14-2001, 04:55 AM Thanks fellas,
I`ll try and see what I can do at the track..
Later
silver_rs 05-14-2001, 05:14 AM By the way Michigan,
What`s a Hybris RS ? First time I`ve heard this one mentionned...
Later
scoobiejosh 05-14-2001, 07:02 AM I got a 15.061 @87.68.
CAI
Short Shifter
Stromung Cat-back
TB Coolant Bypass
Cobb Tuning Stickers (where the real h.p. comes from http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/wink.gif )
It depends on the driver, launch, and what kind of mood the guy who built your engine was in http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/smile.gif. I have been drag racing for 8 yrs. so that helps.

Lite Beer!
(I know, it hurts, but we all have to make sacrifices!)
sacrelidge... lite beer my ass
all I have to say is venom... j/k
I'm just getting frustrated that I can't even break into the 15's. I'll post my slip #'s for all to giggle and laugh, and hopefully make suggestions.

SubEd 08-23-2001, 11:57 AM Let me borrow your car. I'll get it into the 15's (shortly before the big
S N A P !!!!!)
did you ever take your RS to the strip? how about the bike? I'm sure the bike would rip 11's or so... How about this... I'll get your bike into teh 11's and you can drag my car.

Intake/headers/exhaust/S-AFC
I ran a 15.5 on a clutch that was slipping. and it was pretty warm.
better clutch, and cooler air.. I think I could have run a 15.2 or so.
I'll have cams in the future. should bring times into the 14's
SubEd 08-23-2001, 12:06 PM Sure, you can borrow the bike, just give me a few minutes to weld together some training wheels!
hey, I've had my mc licence for 5 years now... that means I only need one training wheel.

ITR&RSGUY 08-23-2001, 03:28 PM I don't even bring my Scooby to the strip, I have done some mods, intake, headers, exhasut, short shifter, cams, and pulleys, its probably a high 14 second car, but everything, and I mean everything feels slow after getting off the 929RR with a 30 shot of Nitrous. 9.47 :-)

ATX25RS 08-23-2001, 08:20 PM Impreza's aren't that slow. I ran a 17.021 with nothing but a throttle body mounted filter. Began using a heat shielded filter and dropped to 16.7.
That is in Subaru's POS Automatic. The gears are a bit wide
