STI Type RA Gearsets 02+ WRX
Close ratio gears from the STi RA feature strengthened and hardened components for improved reliability of the 5MT in modified Imprezas. Treated gearsets now feature optional cryo w/ micro-polishing for improved reliability, strength, and reduced frictional losses. Each gearset includes all necessary parts for installation including a custom speedometer gear (specify 3.9, 4.1, or 4.4 final drive ratio when ordering). Non-turbo adapter kit includes additional parts to allow proper fitment of the gearset into non-turbo applications. Professional installation is recommended. Gear Kit Includes

Cyro/Micro finish:The treatment is a 2 part process. The 1st part is a cryogenic tempering process designed to compliment the original case hardening and stress relieving done by the manufacturer. The cryo treatment helps to convert the metal's structure to a uniform crystalline configuration which reduces areas of stress concentration which could otherwise serve as a starting point for failures under high loads. The 2nd part involves a unique micro-finishing porcess that leaves all of the gear surfces hightly polished. This helps to reduce friction between the gears. The benefits include reduced power loss through the transmission, reduced oil temperatures (which improves shifting performance under severe conditions), and improved break-in and longevity.
