hi all my club is need of new timing equipment. money is not a concern,we want the best hopefully the easiest to run. we want the most features ,our old system is dos based parts are no longer available some of the new ones are wireless .the old one we have has cables what would be best? how about the wireless ones. our timer plugs into the computer it would be nice to have a stand alone system. we had one event this year were two cars had the same time we don't think the timer in the computer is real accurate. what do other clubs run what's the best software, best features. what's the latest and greatest. any thoughts would be great. jv

We (neokla) and the many regions around us, use the JA Circuits timer. Very easy PnP.
We have the laser lights which are much harder to get effected by sunlight & dust. Plus you can put the light and reflector farther apart then IR lights. I think we've have had them up too 60' and they are rated too 100'. Wireless is great but IMO. Keeps it hard wired as much as you can. Too much out there that can interfear.
Software, we use Axware. http://www.axwaresystems.com/index.htm
Works in XP, 2000, NT, ME and 98
When putting in cars, it's like a spedsheet. Real easy to quickly modify results on the fly.
thanks patrick i will look at all the systems. jv

We (WNY SCCA) use the same setup as Patrick mentioned. We have looked at upgrading, but we don't see a reason to at this point. We never have a problem with the hardware. Every now and then the computer acts up, but it is a windows issue.
