EDIT: Tea Cups has written a Getting Started FAQ, which contains more information that I had here, so head over to http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1410201 to check it out.

UPDATED:The EcuFlash defs were updated on 12-18-7. The new defs shouldn't run into this problem, you probably won't need to do this.

OK, a portion of the people using EcuFlash and NA Imprezas (2.5RS or 2.5i) are finding a small problem where the ROM will open in EcuFlash with the ROM Info available, but no maps are accessible. In the righthand/log pane of the interface, a small line of text complaining about inheritance appears.

If this is happening to you, here's the work around for the time being.

1) Close EcuFlash
2) Download a new copy of the definitions for EcuFlash if you haven't saved the .zip file from when you got it the first time
3) Go to C:\Program Files\OpenECU\EcuFlash\rommetadata\ and delete the subaru folder there
4) Unzip the definitions
5) Copy the newly unziped subaru folder into C:\Program Files\OpenECU\EcuFlash\rommetadata\
6) Launch EcuFlash
7) Open Metadata Directory option (File->Options->Directories->Metadata Directory)
8) Set the Metadata Directory to C:\Program Files\OpenECU\EcuFlash\rommetadata\
9) Close EcuFlash
10) Open EcuFlash
11) Definitions should now inherit correctly.

BTW, this works under OS X as well, just use Applications/ecuflash.app/Contents/Resources/rommetadata instead of C:\blahblahblah

I've updated the Ecuflash defs (12-18-07) to overcome this bug which impacts some users. Follow the same install procedure as before:

1. DELETE Subaru folder in the rommetadata directory (or directory specified in File->Options->metadata from within Ecuflash).
2. Unzip and install new Subaru folder in the same directory.

The issue is isolated to the following ROMs:
- E2VH112C (2006 USDM IMPREZA 2.5i)
- E2ZJ103G (2005 USDM IMPREZA 2.5RS)
- E2ZJ113G (2005 USDM IMPREZA 2.5RS)
- E2ZJ123G (2005 USDM IMPREZA 2.5RS)

You can find the new Ecuflash defs at the link in the first post.

what's the difference between the 4.1 beta and test release 774?

does the 4.1 beta not have the plug-in for widebands?

also, tgui's version of enginuity has a calculator of whp and wtq. any idea how to incorporate those or activate them?

IIRC, the test release v774 has the following enhancements to the logger:
1. LC-1 support
2. AEM UEGO plug-in (don't think it has been tested though)
3. Ability to reset ECU
4. Ability to start logging within logger rather than defogger switch (via button on logger form)
5. UTEC logging

That is all I can remember.

I get no option for any of the NA imprezas but I was still able to copy my stock map to my pc. The inheritance trick did not work for me.

What exactly are you are trying to do? No option when doing what? What is your rom id?

I am trying to copy the rom. It copied when I chose DBW wrx 2005-2007. There is no option for na imprezas anywhere on the list. I followed the above directions to the T and no dice. I hope I can still copy it back to my car.

If it's asking you to help it figure out which ROM it is, then there isn't a definition for it. You need to package up the rom with specific information about your car (year, market, trim level, tranny, etc) and send it to Tea Cups for inclusion in the next definition release.

I'm not sure what you mean by copy. Do you mean you are trying to read the ROM from your ECU using Ecuflash and the tactrix cable? If that is the case, the directions you read above have nothing to do with that (in fact, you don't need to follow those ever as the issue has been fixed with the 12-17 update to the Ecuflash defs). To read the ROM from your ECU, you are correct to choose the 2005-2007 DBW wrx/sti read method. Follow the process here:
http://www.scoobypedia.co.uk/index.php/Knowledge/EnginuityAndReflashingFAQ#toc10

If you've updated the Ecuflash defs (12-17 version) and your ROM is supported, then when you finish reading it, it will open in Ecuflash and you'll see a number of tables. However, if it is not supported, then you will get a message indicating this and asking you if you want to clone/inherit or continue using this ROM with no definition. Choose the latter and then go to File->Save As and save the ROM. Remember, that just because there's support for NA imprezas doesn't mean it covers ever ROM revision (only those that have been uploaded by users). For example, an 06 2.5i might have 5 or 6 different ROM revisions for that model and year. You may happen to have the 1 of the 3 out of the 6 that isn't supported, for example. But you can get the ROM to me and I can add it to the next ECU definition release.

Does anyone know if LC-1 support inherently provides LM-1 support as well? If not, is anyone working on LM-1 support?

I've heard it works, but I have no idea how you "Install as administrator" when all you have to do is unzip it.

if you are having issues running it as a normal user, in XP right clink on the “run.bat” file and then select “run as” in the pop-up menu and select Administrator in the next screen, in Vista just right click on the “run.bat” file and select "run as Administrator" in the pop-up menu.

Hope that helps

No, not what I was saying. The instructions for the Enginity Installer say to launch the installer with the "Run as Administrator" command. Since the test release has no installer, I don't know what you're supposed to do about that.

I run it under XP (since I haven't been foolish enough to upgrade to Vista) with no problems.
