Back from the dealer. Found a bad alt, but im still getting a lot of current draw when the fans kick on. (dimming) They didnt troubleshoot further because they want me to power down my aftermarket alarm first (reasonable.)

Does anyone else's lights/dash dim slightly when those fans kick on?

They say it idles at 30A then kicks up to 60A when they pop on momentarily.

The car is bone stock.

i got the same problem, i dont think they dim as much when the fans go on but they do dim noticably when i put my foot on the brakes. i think the brakes lights are making my front lights dim because of the power draw.

It seem to me that 30 amps of current is a pretty high load if there isn't any extra accessories on when the test was do. I would first want to know what the condition of the battery is in. If it is more than 4 years old you may need to replace it. It is also important that the alternator is able to produce its rated current output. If some output diodes are bad then the battery may not be getting as charged up as it should be.
