Just got a V1 accessport for christmas and was going to go ahead and go stage 1 - 93oct after work.

Only thing I am not sure about is whether to go ahead and load the base map or Real time map?

I tried searching and even calling AMS, which they told me to go ahead and load the Real time map.. But it sounded as the guy wasn't exactly sure.

Can anyone just explain or confirm the differences and which I should load?

Thanks,

-Mark

RTM.

The base map has logic tables and other things the realtime does not. You will also lose the realtime in the event of a power failure or ECU reset.

Why you'd call a big Evo shop and not Cobb themself is beyond me. Running realtime over a non coresponding base map is not a good route for safety/power.

Flash the base map and go have fun.

Actually I think the AP asks you which base map to flash as soon as you marry it, so I don't think you even have a choice, though my memory may be failing me.

Nothing against AMS, they are a AWESOME shop, they just don't have alot of experience with the AP. I've read some pretty funny stories from Suby guys that went to AMS. Like AMS telling a guy he HAD TO buy a aem ems because his stock maf sensor was maxed adn there was no other solution and that specifically 'a larger maf sensor housing would do nothing'.

Ask Jorge his position on Realtime maps.

2 people so far have said real time.. why do you say base?

This is DIRECTLY from Cobb. I think this should be all you need to hear IMO.

Base Map vs. Real Time Map Differences - The base calibration contains some
additional logic for improved performance and is HIGHLY recommended to be used

Features such as defeated CELs and Closed Loop tables are not changed with Realtime.
This is why we highly recommend you running the Stage Base Calibration that best
matches your car's modification. Running the Stock Mode Base Map with a Stage
Realtime map over it will get you some of the improvements but no where NEAR what you
would get if you were to run the proper Stage Base calibration.

Again, you should have no reason why you will want to run the Stock Base calibration,
unless of course you're the type that doesn't like extracting the full potential of
your vehicle.

I'll be happy to explain the differences in detail.

We're here doing inventory, but we're not here, if you follow.

We won't answer phones, but if you wanted to stop by, the door is unlocked and open. Feel free to come in and I'll walk you through the differences.

to use an AP you must marry it to the car that in and of itself IS flashing a base map.

after that you can change realtime maps to your hearts content
