View Full Version : Two Inline GM Solenoid, One for BC and Other for Safe Injection

Hi, I already have a GM solenoid (we'll call this Solenoid A) acting as my Boost Controller and its already tuned.

This is the setup thus far:

Solenoid A:
Port A connected to the Wastegate side.
Port B is venting to atmosphere
Port C (silver nipple) to Compressor side.

Now I need to put another GM solenoid (we'll call this Solenoid B) that acts as my Safe Injection solenoid that I purchased from Labonte Motorsports. Basically a 12v signal from the Safe Injection unit should trigger Solenoid B to cut boost to wastegate spring pressure.

Any ideas on how to set this up this inline with Solenoid A.

See post #10 for Update

See the attached thumbnail drawing, this should help.

Let me know if you need more info.

Best regards,

Dan

The problem I have with the Diagram above is that once Solenoid B (safe injection) is energized, Port B of Solenoid B will open, pressure will travel through the T connector and only part of the pressure will reach the Wastegate. This is because the rest of the pressure will travel through the T connector into Port A of Solenoid A (BCS) and out through Port B of Solenoid A (BCS) which is venting to atmosphere.

Is this not correct? Does the wastegate still see adequate pressure to open?

Let me update that, I see what you are saying

Wouldn't a 'two relay' network work and be cheaper?

a two relay network how exactly?

Ok now can I just forget about even using Solenoid B for the safe injection and use the 12v signal from the Safe Injection to trigger a relay that will cut the electrical signal from the ECU to Solenoid A?

crap.....i have yet to make that wiring diagram. I had started to make a MS Paint one but looked like crap. Hope to have it soon.

In short read the last few post on this thread...... http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1415683

How about this setup?

http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/gg141/elhalish/BBK-1.jpg

When both Solenoids are de-nergized you have a free flowing system from compressor to wastegate through Solenoid A (BCS on the left) only.

When boosting and with flowing alcohol, Solenoid A becomes energized. Port C of Solenoid A starts closing, and wastegate does not see the pressure. Whatever air needs to be vented will travel through Port B of Solenoid A to the open Port A and Port C of Solenoid B which is de-nergized

When boosting without alcohol, safe injection controller will send a 12v signal to Solenoid B. Now the pressure will flow through the T connector into Port B of Solenoid B, through to Port A of Solenoid B, to Port B of Solenoid A, to Port A of Solenoid A, and to the wastegate. Wastegate opens and your boost is cut to around 9psi.

Is there anything that I am missing or should this work perfectly?

adding solenoid, hoses, and weight just for the hell of it?

just use a relay which is closed when seeing 12v from the safe injection thing. put one half of the relay circuit inline with your BCS wire. so when the relay is open, the BCS doesn't see any voltage...

Its one of things were although there are other options, its still a cool little thing to figure out. A good puzzle!

far easier to to use the safety system to cut power to one BCS than to go through all that

you want a good puzzle

figure out how to accomplish this setup with two 3 port solenoids

Which wire is that?
