how does this add-on feature work? do i need to bring it to a tuner to get setup or is it a plug and play thing i can do myself and what is needed? Is the control an actual controller with knob....

If you have a Hydra the maps are already setup by Element Tuning so it's plug and play with the harness. If you want to change or alter these settings you do need a laptop.
