The next-generation Volkswagen Golf has been spotted numerous times testing with a heavy front and rear camouflage. Honestly, we can’t wait until this car (http://www.egmcartech.com/2008/01/23/video-sixth-generation-vw-golf-spotted-testing/#) is finally out. We’ve previously shown you photo renderings of both the base Golf (http://www.egmcartech.com/2007/08/28/more-info-on-the-sixth-generation-vw-golf/) and the GTI (http://www.egmcartech.com/2007/11/07/photo-rendering-sixth-generation-volkswagen-gti/) giving you a sneak peek at what changes we can expect.


Winterkorn has confirmed a date for autumn of 2008 for the six-generation Golf. Most of the engine specs are expected to be carried over however we may see some power increase. The 200 horsepower GTI and 250 horsepower R32 will also be carried over, although that will be replaced by a 300 (http://www.egmcartech.com/2008/01/23/video-sixth-generation-vw-golf-spotted-testing/#) horsepower R36 by the end of the decade.

wow the R32 weight like 3,700lbs already.

this car better look good... if it looks uglier than the MkV, than it is horrible. as of right now, the front is weird and profile of the car looks like a yaris

Yeah, assuming any US driver is going to be only 165lbs... :D

Where do you get 16lbs for fuel? A gallon of fuel is approx. 6.5lbs. Most gas tanks on cars are between 13-16gallon capacity. You do the math.

I was simply re-stating his numbers. You will notice that the 2 EU cars have "(including fuel and 165lbs for the driver)" factored into the total. However, you should also see that the US spec has left these two things out. So, if you add it into the last one, the total is 3700...

Nobody else calculates the weight of a car that way, so there's no sense in starting.

Plus, supporting that retard dodiox puts you on the wrong side in the these parts.

Why we have to wait even LONGER for an R36 is beyond me...

The US curb weight includes driver and fuel, too, at least for VW/Audi. That means an empty US R32 (DSG, sunroof) actually weighs something like 3350lb and an empty 6-speed w/o sunroof weighs something like 3130lb.

so is the GTI getting 230hp.
I believe they already have a limited edition in Europe with 230hp
on the 2.0T engine.
I wish VW gave a AWD option on the 2.0T GTI.
