TOKYO — Nissan on Thursday announced that it is revamping its Nismo performance-parts operation and is "exploring expansion plans to overseas markets for its tuner-parts business."
"The revamp allows Nismo to focus on its core strengths and expertise to develop high-performance heavy-tune parts that cater to a dedicated customer base of tuners and racing enthusiasts," the automaker said in a statement.
In the home market, customizers can now get Nismo-branded tuner parts and a professional tuning service at "any Nissan dealership across the country." The first light-tune part that will become available in Japan is the "Nismo S-tune" for the Nissan Tiida.
"With a growing customization and tuner market, combined with a wider distribution network for its Nismo-branded specialty parts, Nissan is expecting strong growth," it said. "Looking ahead, Nissan is also exploring expansion plans to overseas markets for its tuner-parts business."
