View Full Version : Phillips headlamps at walmart?

So 2 months ago I purchased Sylvania Silverstars for my low beams. And this morning the left one went out. Then later when I was driving through the mountains in the pitch black my other light went out.:furious:

I checked the fuses and they are both fine. So my guess is that it has to be the bulbs themselves. I was forced to drive an hour home with nothing but my foglights and hazard lights in the dark.

And now it is to late to go to a NAPA and the nearest autozone is 30 miles away.

However, there is a Walmart about 3 miles away.
My question: Does walmart carry the Phillips H1 bulbs?

I called up there and the dumbass girl won't go look for me. Her response is "I think we might have them".

I checked www.walmart.com and I can't even get results for headlamps of any kind for any car. I am so furious about these Sylvania's, I just want to get my lights working so I can drive my damn car the rest of the way home.

Thanks

Did you forget your car also come with high beams?

Sure did.

Just kidding, for some reason I decided I wanted to be courteous to the other cars and not use them. But in retrospect I realize that is just ridiculous.

I will be high-beaming it up for the next couple days.:)

Just pay them a visit. I bought new headlight bulbs at walmart for my last car when one burned out. Just got the regular halogens and they worked fine. I think they do have the H1 phillips or sylvania, which is a popular honda bulb.

Walmart.com is not for headlights, wonder bread... .

Silverstars are JUNK :furious: I just purchased 2 sets within 4 months for my Saab . I took it to the dealership thinking it was the car blowing the bulbs , but the only problem was the bulbs so they put me some OEM bulbs in under warranty.

Agreed. I changed the bulbs out with some stock NAPA bulbs for $10 total and after putting the new bulbs in I discovered both of the Silverstars had blown. They were in the car for 2 months. I now understand that these are the most worthless bulbs out there.:furious:

I may be picking up a set of the nighthawks because I've heard good things about them.

Or maybe I should just suck it up and get some HIDs.

Yup, same results with the Silverstars in my Impreza and the wife's Accord. The auto parts counter boys tell me their new version (forgot the name) is supposed to be better in the longevity department, but at that price I'd rather not keep popping bulbs :(

Forget all the us-market, color coated, crap. PIAA (which does make good full lights, like fogs and what not) bulbs are also crap and burn out soon/get weak, IMHO. Any brand (PIAA for ex.) that tells you their bulb at 55/60w is like having a 100/135w, is crap. Still just a 55/60W bulb. otherwise you'd be burning up your wiring.

I normally recommend Osram Silverstars. completely different from Sylvania Silverstar US-market, color-coated crap. The Osram is a +50 bulb, you can get them all over online, and from ebay. And, at $30 or so, definately worth the money. (There are also other +50 bulbs out there, like Narva rangepowers, that are just as good.)

However, Osram also just introduced a +90 bulb, called Night Breakers. I'll definately be trying it out.

everybody knows you have to wear rubber gloves when handling those bulbs right. Because it you don`t you will cause the bulb to burn out early.

also, silverstars burn out extra fast for some reason. Personally I don't think they are worth the premium
