I've been getting a p0136 CEL so I tried switching out my rear O2 to no avail. I think it must be the wiring and I'm trying to sort it out. The previous owner before me must have put this thing onto the vehicle as I have no idea what it is. It is spliced into the engine side of the wiring harness for the rear O2 sensor and is just electrical taped down below. I want to remove it but am unsure of exactly what it is. Anyone have any idea? Here it is

that looks like a o2 sensor eliminator

That makes sense only it doesn't appear to be working correctly. Any idea how this is supposed to be wired in?

that definitly looks like a mechanical 02 sensor cel fix, used when a catalytic converter isnt present.

inside that little epoxy box there is a resistor and a capacitor that tricks the ecu into thinking that there is a correct amount of 02 in the exhaust.

my guess is that the internals inside the box crapped out, and it is now throwing the code. you probably need a new one, they are called the "pony express cel eliminator" and are about 20-25 bucks. hope that helped

Yeah there is a good chance it has crapped out. However I'm throwing p0136 which I shouldn't be getting b/c of my tune am I correct? I thought it should be tuned out. If I remove the mechanical fix and patch up any wires that may have a bad connection will I still get this code or is it better for me to get another eliminator. Will a "pony express cel eliminator" get rid of this code?

Thanks, I know what the code is, its a rear o2 sensor failure P0136. I'm not sure why i'm getting it but I talked with my tuner and I shouldn't need the mechanical CEL delete. I'm going to try removing the mechanical fix which was on there b/c when I bought the car it was all stock but/w a catless exhaust and no tune. Hopefully removing that and making sure all the connections are good will get rid of this dang CEL

good luck, but when u remove the cel fix, you may throw a code saying your cats arent working properly. i dont remember what the code is, but i am throwing it in my car due to the fact i dont have any cats.

hope you get everythng worked out tho.
