Is it neccessary to buy the bushings or can you get away with installing the shifter with the stock bushings?

The shifter shortens the throw while the bushing makes it feel better. Much better. In fact, I highly recommend doing both.

Yes, you can do the shifter alone. It feels rubbery if you do. Well... it feels like stock, only shorter. Do the bushings too. It's maybe the best $20 you can spend.

Do the bushings help the little click in between gears?

Do it. Absolutely makes it feel much better. Just did mine Friday/Saturday. Installed the shifter Friday and drove for awhile. Shift is much shorter, but did feel a bit vague. Saturday put the car on ramps and had the bushings on the car in less than 15 minutes. Spent more time trying to find the proper socket (12mm) than actually under the car. Feel is way better. More direct and crisp.

Has anybody recently had a problem receiving the kart boy short shifter/bushings combo? He's promised me 4 times it would be here and its not here yet. Dont know if I'M the acception, or has this happend to anybody else?

He's had a problem sourcing some parts I think he's got it squared away now though.

I bought mine from Kartboy online and had it 3 days later. I couldn't ask for anything more. They were a pleasure to deal with.

I haven't put it in yet, though. I'm lazy.

As I was waiting for the buddy that was going to help me with the install of my Kartboy shifter to exit our work, I say to myself "well, might as well check things out". I popped off the parking brake handle cover, the shift boot housing and had the new shifter in in the time it took him to finish in the bathroom, exit work and walk to my car. Super simple. Bushings took a little more time, they didn't want to seat propperly. Here's a trick, if you don't have enough room to put the washer on, try tightining the nut without the washer first, to seat the bushings a little. Then loosen and remove nut, you should have enough room for the washer now. Step one shifter= nice short throw, But I would way recommend step two, the bushings. On the wey home from work I accidentally shifted from 1st to second to third to second. After bushings the feedback from the tranny is way more possitive. Kartboy has made the biggest improvement I have made to date.
