Well I'm back in the game! I bought black 02 WRX with 80k on clock and I'm loving it. So my questions are: I'm looking for a stockish looking exhaust with the deep rumble, not loud but middish, what would be a good choice? I got a good deal on borla hush CB I'm thinkin about.... Also what would be a good set of springs that rides smooth for a DD but semi decent for track? I'm not planning on slamming my ride.


One last thing, my car is almost completely stock, it has a stage 1 clutch says Solid auto works that they installed too, well for only being stage 1 its really chattery... so i cant down shift w/o it chattering =( Anyone running around with stage 1 with same symptoms? Thanks in advance

The borla hush power with the twin tip exhaust should fit what you're looking for. Congrats on the new rex.

i think the cobb exhaust is one that looks the most stock, as for springs if you dont want it slammed get the Tein H techs. prodrive/perrin are nice.

these days its all about no muffler and running dual pipes that stick out like a foot

you can just paint the exhaust black if you use the right paint.

RCE Blacks or Yellows for springs, RCE makes some of the best springs for our subies. I like the perrin exhaust that i have, its is kinda loud though, but looks relatively stock. Cobb looks stock but might be louder than what you are looking for. There is also the greddy SP2... that is a nice quiter exhaust.

Sweet first question about the clutch lol. Ok it wont chatter if i rev match it, but down shifting will chatter too but once again if i rev match it a little then it wont. In other words the clutch chatters a lot and has no characteristics of slippage and being smooth of stock and being only stage 1 would this follow true?? I'd think the clutch would be like stg2+

That could be the case, because it is not slipping.

I have a ACT stage 3+ and it chatters, but I just work around it, and don't let it chatter.

My buddy has a knock off stage 1 upgrade, but it is a 6puc UNSPRUNG.
So that may be the case too, you could take a look under your car and see what kind of pressure plate it has.

I'll do that, I'm going call solid tomorrow and see if they remember the car and if it really was a stage 1 or a ebay knock off. My buddy also had a knock off stage 1 from ebay unsprung and like 2 weeks alter 1-2 gear crapped out. I just dont want that happening so thats why I'm worried about the chatter :sadbanana:

Just a quick shot of it. It's really dirty on the outside and its suppose to snow tomorrow, but I cleaned the ***** out of the interior =P Still need to install the stereo. Planning on getting that exhaust first of next month for my bday to myself. Also debating on DIY black out the headlights(chrome piece.....), my goldies will go on once its spring-ish and I'll have the springs by then too.

I really like the look on 04-5 taillights when they're all red, is it possible for the bugeyes? Or has anyone seen it done or a similar mod to the tails w/o looking like rice shiz? Even maybe smoking the white part on it.... hrm... need photo's to decide lawl

you can put 04-05 tails on but you have no notch out a piece of your bumper to fit the circle part. or buy a bumper. i have seen them notched at it looked good.

The clutch thing is probably just the nature of the clutch. I have driven a few different aftermarket setups on dsms and they are just like that when you get a flatter clutch disc with little to no marcel layer in between the friction surfaces. Give it some time and practice and you will learn to drive around it so to speak.

Yeah I was thinking hopefully since its a new clutch still it hasn't fully broken in and maybe it will start to slip a little.... I just don't want the same thing that happened to Brody V's tranny to mine yall know

Loving it minus the clutch haha. I've gotten a little use to it but theres that occasional chatter if i don't rev it more then I'd like to... And down shifting is almost out of the question
