View Full Version : New Omori 45mm gauges - STi, LGT and even 08 WRX/STi
J-Spec Tuning 02-17-2008, 01:54 AM The "N45" line has an updated look with a revised backlighting to better match today's automobile dashboard. The LED lighting has been updated to function in the always on state. Additionally, some car dashboards don't have the always on LED so the gauge wiring allow for the backlighting to come on only when the headlights are switched on. Lastly the N45 line gauges perform the 270 degree calibration sweep on startup. The gauges are all electrical and come with the sending unit, boost hose, t-fitting and wiring harness.
Good news, for 08 WRX and STi owners, we have a gauge that can actually match your gauge cluster.

wrxtremeWGN 02-17-2008, 05:21 AM do they make an egt as well in the 04-07wrx look?
J-Spec Tuning 02-18-2008, 01:36 PM wrxtremeWGN,
Since we posted, we had a number of people have inquired about a 45mm EGT. We can get that manufactured as the tough part is already completed (stepper motor and casing). What are you looking at in terms of placement of that second gauges?
Thanks,
Thaison
wrxtremeWGN 02-18-2008, 02:39 PM i was going to utilize the steering column for both gauges. id personally be interested in a setup just like to boost gauge, w/ the mounting cup.
also if for some reason you dont release the new egt gauges, how different is the lighting between the old egt gauge and the new boost gauge?
J-Spec Tuning 02-19-2008, 02:28 AM wrxtremeWGN - the old EGT gauge would look very different from the new boost. And I just got word that the pricing on the EGT gauge would be $140. We can probably put together a package whereby the second steering column pod is free. So the total for the package would be $290 shipped for the elec boost, elec EGT and two steering column pods.
We're not actually trying to sell it to you at this point but throwing it out there for comment. If we gave them the go ahead today, the ETA on the EGT would be 1.5 months from now.
Thanks,
Thaison
jblaine 02-19-2008, 02:30 PM Just noticing that also this new model goes to 30psi. The older ones only went to 25.
J-Spec Tuning 02-20-2008, 03:10 PM jblaine - thanks for noticing. I've been working on this gauge for 2 months now and took that for granted.

fragment 02-22-2008, 01:08 PM Still waiting to reply on my PM's.
Thanks
J-Spec Tuning 02-23-2008, 02:15 PM We've gotten a number of questions from current owners of the stock boost gauge that would like to convert over to the Omori electrical boost gauge from the factory boost gauge.
For those converting from a factory boost gauge, you will NOT need to reinstall the t-fitting and run a boost line through the firewall. With this gauge kit, you can just take the boost hose that runs into the factory gauge and connect it to the boost sending unit included with the kit. Then wire the sending unit to the gauge. Follow the included wiring instructions from there and you're done.
Thanks,
Thaison
onefasazn 02-23-2008, 09:55 PM when is the rest of the line of the new gauges coming out?
jim1969 02-24-2008, 11:47 PM will these dim?
J-Spec Tuning 02-24-2008, 11:58 PM onefasazn - we estimate that we will get the red needle/green backlight line out first. That will consist of the EGT, oil pressure and possibly oil temp. The red backlight gauges will take longer - probably around the July time frame.
jim1969 - these gauges do not have an option to dim. Due to the fact that it uses LED lighting, dimming these gauges are difficult as reducing voltage will just turn off the lighting after a while. Additionally, these gauge cannot be connected to the dimmer switch of the WRX - i.e. it cannot be wired to the radio harness of the WRX/STi.
Thanks,
Thaison
Lubes 02-25-2008, 01:36 AM I just installed my 45mm boost gauge today, I LOVE IT!!
J-Spec was really awesome to work with.
Thanks Again Thaison
J-Spec Tuning 02-27-2008, 02:33 AM Lubes - Thank you!
07wrxwag 03-02-2008, 07:30 PM i finally got a chance this weekend to hook up my boost gauge and install the pod in my wrx. gauge looks great and the pod fits nicely and doesn't block anything in my view. I saw someone asked if this would dim, i just wanted to say that when i first installed the gauge it was very bright and after consulting my friends father who is an electrician he suggested that i install a potentiometer inline so that i could dim the gauge that way and i could either leave that or measure the resistance at the proper light level and install a resistor inline. Anyone tried this or know if it will work and not harm the gauge itself?
J-Spec Tuning 03-03-2008, 12:40 AM 07wrxwag - I am actually researching this myself. I should know the answer but essentially the add on circuit needs to limit the amperage without lowering the voltage. An LED needs a minimum voltage. A potentiometer will actually drop both the voltage AND amperage which won't actually get you to where you would want it. By the time you've racheted up the potentiometer to the point where it starts to dim the LED, the LED will shut down due to a drop in voltage. I've emailed an electrical eng buddy of mine for a low cost Radio shack solution to this. I hope to get something back this week.
Thanks,
Thaison
Lubes 03-03-2008, 12:52 AM ^^^ Keep me posted on that too!
07wrxwag 03-03-2008, 11:52 AM well last night i headed over to radio shack and i picked up a couple potentiometers, and i had some leds that were set up to run 12 volts. I installed the potentiometer inline using 2 of the posts on the 'pot' and by doing this i was able to dim the led, but it would not shut off even with the 'pot' in the off position. essentially only 50% of the sweep of wiper in the 'pot' actually has any effect. But it was able to dim the led a considerable amount w/o ever shutting it off. also the good thing i read about 'pots' is that if they burn out they will either completely cut power, or go to full power of the circuit which normally you'd have to watch out for if the circuit couldn't withstand the whole 12volts but in our situation the gauges can use the full power. J-Spec is there anyway that this would void the warranty on the gauge, waiting to see before i move it from my set of leds to my gauge itself. But it should work exactly the same because the leds were 5mm leds with inline resistors which is most likely how the leds in the gauge are set up

If you do this could you please take and post pics of the process?
07wrxwag 03-03-2008, 01:34 PM If you do this could you please take and post pics of the process?
yea if i go ahead and do this i will do a write up, just waiting to hear from j-spec about warranty on the gauge, as i don't think the leds in the gauge can be easily changed and don't want to risk burning them out or give out a diy that could have negative effects. This wouldn't be until this coming saturday, as i am away for the week and all my electronic stuff and tools are at home and its essential for the diy because the potentiometers need leads soldered to them, at least in my opinion.
J-Spec Tuning 03-03-2008, 01:58 PM 07wrxwag - This will not void the warranty. You are not increasing the voltage nor are you opening the gauge or sending unit so you're fine.
Thanks,
Thaison

good to hear, i am going to transfer the pot over to the gauge next saturday than and see if it works like it has when i've bench tested with the leds. I am going to try and find a pot with a higher resistance and an on/off ability so i can shut it off if wanted.
Thaison if you find any information out could you please post it incase your electrician knows a simpler way than what my electrician told me
thanks
J-Spec Tuning 03-05-2008, 02:27 AM 07wrxwag: I spoke to the elec engineer and here's the situation. All LED's follow a voltage / current curve. At a certain point prior to cutoff (the LED turns off) which is approximately around 70% X max voltage (12V), the current passing through the LED is linear to the voltage. Decrease the voltage -> will decrease the current -> which will decrease the intensity. With a high resolution potentiometer, the LED can be dimmed within this range. Once the potentiometer is increased and consumes more than approx 30% of max voltage, the LED will turn off. So an LED will dim somewhat but unlike a filament bulb, there is a small region that the dimming capabilities will work. I'll work up a schematic diagram, test the "resistance" of the LED circuit and figure out what the optimal resistance range would be for the potentiometer. Stay tuned.
Thanks,
Thaison
chimchimm5 03-12-2008, 12:34 AM Great! I've been waiting for the 45mm eboost wrx look gauges for months now.
Does the EGT come with the probe/sender?
J-Spec Tuning 03-12-2008, 12:40 AM chimchimm5 - yes, the EGT gauge will come with the probe, wiring harness and bung. We are just waiting on a review of the prototype before we forecast a general availability date.
Thanks,
Thaison

Black07SS 03-26-2008, 04:59 PM is the 04-07wrx style gauge the same one as the 02 wrx would need to match stock lighting?
J-Spec Tuning 03-27-2008, 01:32 AM Black07SS - the backlight would be the same - green. But the needle color is different. We no longer carry the yellow needle/45mm gauges. The only yellow needle boost gauges we have left are the 52mm elec and mech Omori boost gauges.
Thanks,
Thaison
wal.lin 04-01-2008, 11:49 PM Do these come with the column mount/pod thing?
Kirrsace 04-02-2008, 03:17 AM do you have the 52mm? boost, oil, egt? in sti red? like 04?
J-Spec Tuning 04-03-2008, 01:32 AM wal.lin - the column mount is optional and can be added with the gauge order.
Kirrsace - that item is coming out and we are getting proto's soon but I wouldn't like to comment on actual production as of yet.
Thanks,
Thaison

Jonny427 05-13-2008, 05:35 PM Any pics yet of the 08 STI gauge pod mounted on the steering column? Also do you have any day or night shots with it on? I need to get one!
Rexosaurus 05-13-2008, 05:41 PM Bump for Thiason. I got my boost gauge installed this weekend and it looks great.
Great guy!
jsquar3d 05-20-2008, 04:33 AM Any updates on other gauges with the white needle / red backlight? I'm an 08 STI owner and looking to make an order from you guys but still only see the single gauge on your site.
I think for the moment I'm wanting EGT and Boost, in 45mm for both (I guess it's the smallest available?) Possibly an oil pressure but that might be farther down the line.
Also any more pics of the 2008 style would be greatly appreciated :) Wanna see the day/night comparison!
Jonny427 05-21-2008, 08:45 PM ^^ yes me too! I'm waiting to see some day/night pics
benji25 05-26-2008, 07:55 AM thaison, can you pm me a price for an 05 wrx steering column boost gauge kit shipped to 18960, do you have these in stock?
D-Rodman 06-04-2008, 12:48 AM Thaison, here is the omori boost gauge kit you sold me, installed on my saabaru. It works perfectly and looks great with the factory instruments. It was fairly easy to install even for me, without any previous experience intalling a boost gauge. I was able to install the column mount in front of the tach and nothing is blocked from view. Thank you, J-SPEC TUNING rocks.
http://http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i193/D-Rodman/92x/DSCN1673.jpg
Do you have one with a white face instead of black?
J-Spec Tuning 06-05-2008, 03:26 PM All,
Sorry for the lateness in replies.
Rmak - We only have the black face at this time. There is no plan at this time for a white face version of this gauge.
D-rodman - Thanks for the pic. Your package should be arriving today :)
45mm EGT gauge update:
We are getting the 45mm EGT gauge in the red needle/green backlight configuration in next week. At this time, we are not planning on a 08+WRX STi version of the gauge yet - sorry.
The 04-07 WRX look EGT gauge will be $135 shipped.
Thanks,
Thaison
xaznxeclipsex 06-05-2008, 05:02 PM Hi, if i dont buy the steering wheel pod, do i still get the black tube that the gauge fits into like in this pic :
http://www.j-spectuning.com/pictures/gauge_pod_whiteN.jpg
If this picture is with the steering wheel pod, can you post a picture of the gauge without the steering wheel pod?
J-Spec Tuning 06-06-2008, 03:31 AM If you don't purchase the pod, the black plastic tube in the picture is not included. Here's a pic of just the kit without the pod. It is highly suggested that if you don't have a pod, that you purchase the steering column pod. It is the only way we know of securing the gauge.
Thanks,
Thaison
DraconisWRX 06-09-2008, 07:12 PM Just curious, the LGT and 04-07 WRX 45mm Gauges, will those work in an 03 WRX? Also is the LGT gauge more of a white or blue color?
Thanks
J-Spec Tuning 06-10-2008, 02:13 PM DraconisWRX - Either of those gauges will work in a 03 WRX. The LGT look gauge has a white backlight.
Thanks,
Thaison

That installation occurs all the time. The installation guide is on our website. The Lamco pod is 43mm while the Omori is 45mm. The electrical connection would not be a straight connect. You would need to pull wire from the radio or clock harness. Aside from that, you can use the boost hose as is and connect it directly to the included sending unit.
Thanks,
Thaison
mxbase 07-21-2008, 08:29 PM Thanks I'll check it out.

J-Spec Tuning 09-24-2008, 12:26 AM Scoobyap1 - Sorry man. We don't have the yellow needle Omori gauges anymore in the 60mm variety. Actually, that series have been discontinued. We still have a few boost gauges in 52mm in stock and one water temp gauge. Other than that though, we are out.
Thanks,

What about 52mm series with yellow needles?
Treefolk 09-30-2008, 02:37 AM Just bought one form your site and I was wondering how accurate is the boost gauges since it is now electrical instead of the old version mechanical.
Hope I can get it soon :D!
Thanks
turboge 09-30-2008, 12:47 PM When will 08 WRX/STi EGT be available?
J-Spec Tuning 10-02-2008, 01:28 AM Treefolk - the electrical gauge is just as accurate as the mech ones. The mech ones (regardless of brand) are quicker than the electrical ones. The main reason why we decided to only sell the elec 45mm now is that the calibration will not deviate over time. The mech ones have a tendency to get of center after a couple of years.
turboge - we are still working and spending our capital in releasing the new 52mm gauges. We plan on the EGT's in the 08+STI/WRX after the Christmas season.
Thanks,
Thaison
txl146 10-02-2008, 01:33 AM Thanks Thaison for sending me the "T" for my boost gauge. It works great!
You guys have one of the best customer service on nasioc.com
turboge 10-02-2008, 10:36 AM Thanks Thaison, I am looking for an electric Boost & EGT combo for two 08's when they are available. 52mm would be preferred.
sc00by25rs 10-06-2008, 01:17 PM I sent you an email, not sure if you got it or not, about 3 45mm and a bezel for the oem pod of a rs. Let me know.
thanks
bobanoid 10-06-2008, 07:24 PM do you guys have a 45mm oil temp gauge in green/red. u used to have it in the old models but i havent come across it in the new setup.
Treefolk 10-07-2008, 12:14 AM Thanks J-spec!
Got my gauge two day after I order from their site and I received the wrong color (green) instead of the one I order (red).
After I contact J-spec via email, the very next day my replacement gauge has been out and got it right before the weekend! This is awesome!!
As for the gauge, it is really good match with stock sti cluster
Pros:
Easy to read during day or night (My old Prosport gauge is really hard to read during day time)
Easy to install and good quality
Very accurate, read a little bit slower than my AP but just as accurate.
Cons:
Loud motor
A little bit brighter than your cluster if you mind. (during night)
I give this gauge 8/10 and I really love this little gauge!
J-Spec Tuning 10-07-2008, 02:29 PM turboge - We will be getting the new 52mm gauge out by the Christmas season but I'm not sure the white needle/red backlight version will be out by then. If not, it will be about the Jan/Feb timeframe. The gauges will be feature packed.
1) same high quality sending units with stepper motor
2) adjustable warning backlight - the entire backlight will change color/flash not just a small LED
3) integrated dimmer switch
4) wireless remote
5) backlight can be changed to white or red via remote
Definitely very nice set priced at about $140 /shipped per gauge. We will have discounts for sets as well.
Sc00by25rs - You have email.
bobanoid - we are applying all of our energy and capital on the 52mm series right now. We do have the 45mm EGT gauge with the red needle and green backlight.
Treefolk - thanks for your business and feedback.
Thaison

ejoy1220 10-09-2008, 02:30 PM J-Spec Tuning,
I am looking for the slightly older 52mm Omori boost gauge without the LED lighting and reading 25psi instead of 30psi. I would like to get the gauge with the steering column mounted pod, but I do not see that particular gauge on the site. I do see the older style green 25psi boost gauge on eBay in your eBay store. Do you still have these olders style gauges that you could sell me with a column pod? Thanks!
-Ed
J-Spec Tuning 10-10-2008, 01:48 PM Hi Ed,
We do have the older style 52mm 04+ WRX look gauges in elec boost still in stock. We don't sell the steering column pod for the 52mm though. There are several manufacturers of that pod including VDO and Autometer. Please PM us if you'd like to purchase that gauge.
Thanks,

wwiifanatic 10-18-2008, 04:27 PM Sent a PM about boost/oil pressure gauges.
wwiifanatic 10-21-2008, 05:46 PM Herro?
J-Spec Tuning 10-21-2008, 07:56 PM wwiifanatic - I though we sent you the reply already - 02/03 mech boost and oil pressure right? We have the 02/03 mech boost in stock but no oil press. In fact the only 02/03 gauge other than boost that we have in stock is water temp. Please let us know if you are interested.
Thanks,
Thaison
wwiifanatic 10-22-2008, 04:59 AM Yes possibly interested....Never got the PM though, so I'll need a quoted price if possible. And yes, the Mech Boost and Oil Pressure in 52mm 02/03 style. Will you be getting any of the oil pressure gauges in?
J-Spec Tuning 10-23-2008, 02:19 AM wwiifanatic - you have PM - I'm sure about it this time :)
Thanks,

-Matt
J-Spec Tuning 12-20-2008, 05:30 PM ghedo icy - we have the 08+WRX/STi EGT coming out mid Jan. I know that doesn't help you out but we will get the LGT look EGT by early March.

jsquar3d 12-21-2008, 02:18 AM I'm a little confused, I was in Japan recently but found that Omori has closed their doors.. the site linked from j-spectuning.com is also down.. Do you produce these still?
I'm conflicted between buying a couple gauges from you, or waiting until february when the SPT one comes out, but i'm still not sure how well it will match... the pics look like the needle doesn't light up
J-Spec Tuning 12-21-2008, 03:57 AM jsquar3d - Omori USA has licensed the name and some of the technology from Omori Meter before they went belly up. Frankly, the new arrangement is a ton better than it was prior. We use to get gauges filled then struggle for another couple of quarters with our other orders with zero explanation.
The 08+ WRX/STi look gauges are definitely a good match. We have been selling gauges on NASIOC since 2002. I would NOT sell a gauge that did not have the needle light up. If I wanted to sell those, there are a couple of Autometer series gauges that would fit that bill. If you are not happy with the 08+ STI/WRX look gauges, just return it for a refund. We wouldn't offer that up if we weren't that confident. BTW, we've been selling these gauges since Feb 08 - absolutely not issues.

Ahh my apologies, my wording was strange! I meant to say I'm unsure about the SPT gauge! in the photos from the catalog, it appears the needle isn't lit up... which I meant to say is making it seem the best choice would be yours as, like you said, they've been around a while and are clearly an awesome match! I'm glad to hear you're still doing well despite Japan's side closing down and will keep that at the front of my mind when I come to my final decision! Will watch this thread for news on the EGT as well!
Thanks
J-Spec Tuning 12-22-2008, 01:13 AM Ah ic. After reading your post, I went dug up the catalog you are referring to and see what you're talking about. It doesn't look like the needle is lit. I can see why they will limit the SPT boost gauge to 20PSi but if the needle isn't lit, there just wouldn't be an excuse. Their current boost gauge has that same issue and I would think they would fix it with 7+ years of customer complaints. I shouldn't complain though, if they completely had it together, we would have less things to sell...

sharkmonkey 02-27-2009, 06:04 PM Oooh, sweet, might have to order some tonight. Any word on the 45mm oil pressure gauges?
J-Spec Tuning 02-28-2009, 02:06 PM sharkmonkey - the oil pressure gauge in the 04-07 WRX look is still on track for release in the spring.
Thanks,
Thaison
sharkmonkey 02-28-2009, 06:52 PM Cool, ordered the 45mm boost and EGT anyway. It didn't look like the EGT was discounted any, just the boost so I put that as a check-on item in the order comments. Looking forward to rounding out my factory gauge pack with the oil pressure once you get them.
J-Spec Tuning 03-01-2009, 01:27 AM sharkmonkey - The discount was not applied to the EGT gauge - which was a mistake on our part. We corrected the price on your purchase.

Any word
J-Spec Tuning 03-15-2009, 04:28 PM Hi Scoobyap1 - We got word back but it's not as straight forward as I initially thought. Prices are based on the quantity that we would place the order for. Essentially, I would like to price these gauges at the same cost as the current gauges - $100 for the gauge itself and $130 for the gauge + pod. If I can't negotiate a lower volume commitment, we probably can't do it as the numbers that came back are huge...
Thanks,
Thaison

J-Spec Tuning 04-02-2009, 02:40 AM ----Dimmer accessory for LED gauges----
After numerous requests by WRX owners for a dimmer device for the gauges, we have produced a simple component that installs between the gauge and the power source that can dim the gauge by 50%. This would normally apply to 02-07 WRX owners as the dash is particularly dim compared with the 45mm gauges. We have installed it in a local WRX and the brightness is consistent with the dash.
Cost for folks who purchase our gauges is $10 - no we are not making money on these. This component can drive up to three gauges with no issues. Cost for those who have not purchased our gauges is $25 shipped.
We will be adding this option to our website. If you already purchased our gauges and would like to buy this component for $10 please PM us with your full name and address that we shipped the gauges to.

BeBop86 04-05-2009, 04:51 PM Do you have the 02-03 look 45mm gauges?

J-Spec Tuning 04-06-2009, 06:10 PM BeBop86 - I think I just spoke to you over the phone. We'll have a 45mm oil pressure in the 04-07 WRX look bu around May or June.

Jonnywrx 04-22-2009, 04:10 AM is the cheaper mech boost gauge available or just the eboost?
J-Spec Tuning 04-22-2009, 05:43 PM Jonnywrx - the mech boost gauge is no longer available. We discontinued it due to the eventual calibration issues that comes with every mech boost gauge. I think if you did a search, you will find out the electrical boost gauge is priced the same or $5 higher than the previous 45mm mech boost gauge.
Thanks,
Thaison
Jonnywrx 04-22-2009, 06:09 PM Thanks J-spec, I guess I was looking at really old threads then because there was like a $30 difference. Great product! I will be buying once I get the money together.

zentrandi 05-28-2009, 02:00 PM K. Thanks to Thaison for being so patient with my issues with the gauge i purchased.
I purchased an 04-07wrx gauge for my 03wrx. The red needle does not bother me much anymore due to how well the gauge works. I bought the gauge to be used during my road tune session to find out the tolerance of the gauge reading against the electronic readings. To my surprise there was very little difference from the electronic readings and the gauge readings. The diagnostic sweep makes sure the needle is properly positioned. I have only encountered miss readings 1/10 times (i would just have to restart the car again, so no big deal, it fixes the misread)
At first i bought the gauge kit without the dimmer, that was a bad idea...
http://photos-h.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc1/hs008.snc1/4177_637994342436_37500466_36975559_3117568_n.jpg
A week later, I bought the dimmer kit but it didn't work properly so I was sent a new one. This was the result.
http://photos-e.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc1/hs032.snc1/4307_642187923466_37500466_37137764_7448392_n.jpg
Pardon the crappy mobile phone pix.
Also, when the voltage drops due to inconsistent subaru power... the green fades and shows the red back light. Other than that, I am very happy with this gauge.
J-Spec Tuning 05-29-2009, 12:28 AM zentrandi - great photos that show the difference. Thanks for your patience regarding the first defective dimmer.

J-Spec Tuning 06-09-2009, 02:27 PM maverickar15 - you have PM.
For everyone's benefit, here's the wiring that I believe is correct:
Omori Wiring--------------------------->Subaru Wiring
Connect Red and Green together--------> Yellow/Green wire
White----------------------------------> Pink/Blue wire
Black----------------------------------> Black
JSPEC,
Any news on more gauges with the 08+ WRX look? I can only see 2 gauges (boost and EGT) in ONLY one size (45mm) on your website. Any plans for a 52mm 08+ look or more gauges besides 2?
Thanks!
J-Spec Tuning 06-10-2009, 10:24 PM Cusp - We are not looking at the 52mm 08+ gauges because there aren't any pods available. We've seen one ugly, overpriced pod so far but it is only for one gauge. So the questions is, if we made the 52mm 08+ gauges available what would you put it in?
Thanks,
Thaison

I'm thinking about installing 3 gauges into a single DIN slot. I've seen 52mm gauges fit. Ideally - I would love to place the biggest gauge possible in the DIN slot.
What about adding more gauges with the '08 WRX look? Any plans for the future?
Thanks!
J-Spec Tuning 06-15-2009, 10:05 PM Cusp - You have PM.
For the benefit of all, we will not be looking to do a 52mm 08+ version at this time. The DIN slot is 50mm in height so any 52mm solution will be challenging at best.
We do have the 45mm triple gauge panel and the gauges fit perfectly. If there is demand, we can come out with the 08+ oil pressure in 45mm to complete the triple gauge offering.
Thanks,
Thaison
J-Spec Tuning 06-15-2009, 10:07 PM All,
We just got in the 04-07 WRX look 45mm oil pressure gauge. Now we can offer a triple gauge package with the 45mm DIN panel that fits the OEM center pod perfectly. We will have pictures up shortly.
For those, waiting for the 45mm oil pressure gauge, please PM us.
Price is $135 shipped. Price includes the gauge, sending units and most importantly the steel braided oil hose.
Thanks,
Thaison

Price for the elec boost, EGT and elec oil press gauge with the DIN panel and the Subaru center pod is $475 shipped. Please PM us for this package.

Forster2008 06-25-2009, 01:28 PM I'm ready to install a Water temp and an oil pressure gauge in my 2008 Imprezza (regular 5 spd, not a STI or WRX:() and need to know where to install the sending units, Any one have location details?
J-Spec Tuning 06-25-2009, 05:08 PM You are referring to the older model Omori gauge right?
With the water temp gauge, you generally will need some kind of adaptor that clamps onto two ends of a cut coolant hose. We have some water temp adaptors in stock that would fit the older style Omori sending unit but I cannot guarantee that the openings would fit the diameter of the hose in a 08 Impreza.
As for the oil pressure sending unit, I am at a loss. I would imagine that there is still the oil galley plug on the 08 model that was on the previous 02-07 WRX models.
Thanks,
Thaison

Forster2008 06-28-2009, 04:19 PM No They Are Glow Shift gauges, and I want to get the temp of the coolant at the engine and not at the hose going to the radiator. I want the actual engine temp. Thanks for the suggestion - I will do more hunting for the proper locations - there has to be a plug or I imagine I can tap into the factory sending units using a tee and use that to add my own sending units. Just need to know where exactly the factory sending units are.
Thank you.
hrtpumper 07-06-2009, 08:36 AM Thaison,
I have an older omori 52mm egt gauge, it is STI red, probably bought in 04 when I bought the car new... The trim ring around the gauge is really scratched and I was wondering if I could buy just that part to replace it?
Thanks,
Michael
gopsu 07-11-2009, 02:12 AM do you know if steering column pod will work properly with autometer dual gauge pod? I am assuming steering column needs to be drilled just like OEM gauge pod?
J-Spec Tuning 07-13-2009, 04:57 PM hrtpumper - sorry for the late reply - unfortunately we can't help with the older 52mm gauges. Those have been discontinued and the bezels are no longer being manufactured.
gopsu - I've seen that config. It does work without any issues. The steering column does need to be drilled. You can find the installation guide on our website.
Thanks,
Thaison
Antgli 07-27-2009, 01:09 AM Hi Thaison...I'm thinking of ordering the Boost gauge for my '09 WRX. Do you think I would need the dimmer kit for it? Also, are there any specials or discount currently or in the future available? Thanks so much.
Anthony
Antgli 08-01-2009, 11:08 PM Ok...I received my Boost Gauge for my 09 WRX today and it's nice :)! It's smaller than I imagined. Anyway, I haven't installed it yet but I did connect it to a 12V source just to see the light intensity. I did order the Dimmer Control. Below is how it looks normally and dimmed. The intensity didn't lower that much and it's hard to tell from the pictures. You'll notice less intensity around the needle with the dimmed pic.
