I've got an 07 STI. I've had the Intercooler off 3 times now and each time I see oil at the bottom of the Red Hose that connects to the Turbo and just inside the Turbo where the hose connects. Right now I have a Cobb TBE and AP, just put that on this weekend. But I noticed the oil before this when I installed the boost gauge and again when I had it out for the stereo install. I dont remember seeing any oil anywhere else by the turbo, but I didnt particularly look either. I'm guessing this isnt normal? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Its oil blow by. The car sends burnt oil thought the intake track to be sent into the motor to be disposed of. An oil catch can will do as it is named... catch the burnt oil. Even without it theres nothing to really stress, the car is meant to do that as long as the oil ammount isnt excessive.

Oil Catch Can? Please excuse my ignorance, I've got no idea what that is/where it goes. It's not alot, in fact every time I've seen it it's 1/2 way dried, like real thick.

Thanks!! I appreciate it.

Been out there last year, I had a bit more time on my hands, but I know it sucks none the less. Keep your head down

Oil catch can as others have said will remove the oil from the intake hoses. Also. Dont fill the oil all the way to full on the dipstick. Run it 1/8th to a 1/4 inch below the full line. If you fill it all the way up, the engine will suck oil up the crank case breather into the intake. Running it a touch low hurts nothing and stops 90% of the oil in the intake pipes.

yep, it's perfectly normal in subies. if it does bug you get a catch can. they take about 15 min to put in as soon as you figure out where you want to mount it...
