Hey,

I've encountered a little problem after I swapped out 17" rims w/ 225 size tires for stock rims w/205 size tires with a friend. I'm getting a wobble in the steering when I go from a complete stop to moving and after that the steering wheel vibrates, though not horribly, at low to medium speeds. Above 50 or 60, the steering wheel doesn't vibrate, or at least noticeably.

Some more information: I sold my 17" Work Emotions w/225 tires with even wear for his stock wheels w/205 tires with more wear on the inside of the tires. The alignment I have is for the 225 size tires I had on the car, not sure if that matters. Asked my friend and he said he didn't have any problems/vibrations when he had the stock tires on his car.

I've searched and could only find threads where the vibration increased as speeds increased whereas my problem is the opposite. Could it be the alignment or wheel balance or something else?

Thanks,
Matt

check your lugs... make sure they are all tight. i know it sounds noob but you'd be surprised at how many times this happens...

are the wheels straight, hub centric, round ?

changing tire width, can over time screw up your bearing. be careful w/ that. and a blown bearing will cause vibrations as well at low speeds.

Rotate the tires so that the fronts are on the rear.

High speed vibration usually indicates out of balance. Low speed vibration usually indicates a bent rim or out of round tire.
