View Full Version : Where to get JL W6 SeventySTi 03-06-2008, 02:57 AM Anyone know where i can get some good deal on JL w6? is ebay the cheapest place to get? Also how is it compare to rockford t1. 12" Kentrik 03-06-2008, 07:36 AM I love Rockford amps. They have always been underrated and always been good to me. That said....I would never buy a Rockford sub. Especially any of the newer ones. The cones seem to crack WAY easily. As for the cheapest place to get a W6 would be either eBay, or get the exact model number and do a froogle search for it. Kentrik 03-06-2008, 07:41 AM Also, I don't necessarily know if you want a W6 for sure. It depends on what size, and if you want to do 1 or 2. If you're doing 2, DO NOT use W6s in your trunk. You'll have to cover it 2 or 3 times with damping material and port your trunk so it doesn't rattle the isht out of your car, and even then I probably wouldn't. 1 W6 in a custom enclosure (Audio integrations, hint hint) would do you great. My personal recommendation, depending on what you listen to, would be 2 JL 13-W3s. kevinw.pc 03-06-2008, 02:12 PM I have one for sale http://www.we-todd-did-racing.com/thumbs/large/1051562_8gdlz/P3030163.JPG (http://www.we-todd-did-racing.com/view/full/1051562_8gdlz) http://www.we-todd-did-racing.com/thumbs/large/1051563_efyfv/P3030164.JPG (http://www.we-todd-did-racing.com/view/full/1051563_efyfv) http://www.we-todd-did-racing.com/thumbs/large/1051564_5elnp/P3030165.JPG (http://www.we-todd-did-racing.com/view/full/1051564_5elnp) http://www.we-todd-did-racing.com/thumbs/large/1051565_vmwks/P3030166.JPG (http://www.we-todd-did-racing.com/view/full/1051565_vmwks) http://www.we-todd-did-racing.com/thumbs/large/1051566_f5hix/P3030167.JPG (http://www.we-todd-did-racing.com/view/full/1051566_f5hix) http://www.we-todd-did-racing.com/thumbs/large/1051567_pyadn/P3030170.JPG (http://www.we-todd-did-racing.com/view/full/1051567_pyadn) http://www.we-todd-did-racing.com/thumbs/large/1051568_zdqmk/P3030171.JPG (http://www.we-todd-did-racing.com/view/full/1051568_zdqmk) No box 200 for the amp 200 for the sub subaruwrx04 03-06-2008, 03:08 PM I have a JL W7 13.5 for sale. insane sub. I would let it go for 450, bought it for 1199 new kevinw.pc 03-06-2008, 03:10 PM I'm local tho and he can have a whole sub and amp set up for a lower price. I'm running the 250/1 on the W6 right now and it hits really hard subaruwrx04 03-06-2008, 03:12 PM Ya thats cool, im just throwing it out there pepperjack 03-06-2008, 03:16 PM Yeah, definitely buy from someone on here or ebay. I bought mine straight from a JL dealer with a box and it ran me over 600 bucks. I've heard lots of good things about the 13w3 and have heard them myself and would recommend that route. For the size, output, and price it's a hell of a deal. SeventySTi 03-06-2008, 03:26 PM Also, I don't necessarily know if you want a W6 for sure. It depends on what size, and if you want to do 1 or 2. The sub and box are way too big and heavy so I bought a AI box and trying to get a 1 JL w6 12" now. It should be fine right? Sound will be better or not as good compare to the T2 10"? GL! SeventySTi 03-07-2008, 06:04 AM Thanks guys. JL w6 AI box it is. Gona get them off ebay. :D couchflambeau 03-07-2008, 08:26 PM If you buy a JL off of Ebay be prepared to NOT get a manufacturer's warranty... jobber 03-07-2008, 09:43 PM I got my JL 10W6v2 off ebay for like $238 + shipping kevinw.pc 03-08-2008, 12:45 AM ill sell you my 10 inch jl for 200 jobber 03-08-2008, 12:48 AM ill sell you my 10 inch jl for 200 curious. ive read tons of posts saying a W6 sounds like crap with under 400Wrms. I see that you run it off 250 watts. Are you selling it because it just doesnt sound good? I will be putting 600Wrms into mine. couchflambeau 03-08-2008, 07:40 PM lol... 250w apiece is fine for 10W6's... I'd find advice to the contrary suspect.... Also 600 watts into a single 10W6 is right on the edge of warranty void.... http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_subs.php?series_id=6 jobber 03-08-2008, 07:49 PM lol... 250w apiece is fine for 10W6's... I'd find advice to the contrary suspect.... Also 600 watts into a single 10W6 is right on the edge of warranty void.... http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_subs.php?series_id=6 you know about "headroom" im sure. couchflambeau 03-08-2008, 08:23 PM very much so... but try explainin it to a dealer if you have to have warranty service... ;) Daishi00 03-08-2008, 08:43 PM I ran a pair of 10w6v2's with 400w RMS total...no problems with it. An couch is right...putting more than 400w into a w6 is pointless and voids your warranty. jobber 03-08-2008, 08:43 PM Just because you have a "600Wrms" amp it doesnt mean you will be using 600Wrms... Daishi00 03-08-2008, 08:58 PM Which is my point. Do you think you'd ever use 400w on a 400w amp on it? I would be surprised that you use more than 250w on a regular basis. I'm all about headroom but it's not needed ALL the time...especially on a sub. couchflambeau 03-08-2008, 11:55 PM Just because you have a "600Wrms" amp it doesnt mean you will be using 600Wrms... Precisely... 95% of the time you'll probably be using a tenth of that power unless you have a death wish for your hearing. But when you take said sub to a dealer for service and they want to review the equipment you're using it with and they discover you're right on the edge of the envelope for power handling then it's practically their option weather they wanna honor the warranty or not. And their not going to weigh the fact that you only allegedly listen to it at low volume levels.... It's pretty much the letter of the warranty. Chances are you won't have a problem, but you could say I have a bit of experience in this from the dealer/installer side. Given the circumstances you describe, they may well refuse you a warranty claim based on those facts presented. Not that you really have anything to worry about, I'll bet the only warranty you have for that ebay purchased gear is thru the distributer. JL's pretty good at tracking gray market product and anything purchased outside of an authorized dealer and a couple few online distributers is considered non-warranty merchandise. Kinda sucks but hey, that's the price ya pay for online deals.... |
