Are they dual-2 or dual-4 ohm? Ported or sealed enclosure? Do you REALLY need 2 15s? 1 of those would be mind-numbing, save you money on an amp, and you have a backup woofer.
blah0r 03-06-2008, 12:29 PM i have 1 of these in my wrx and it pounded so hard i had to take my carbon fiber trunk off and dynomat everything from head to toe in my trunk, then use ensolite on every exposed piece of metal as well as the tail lights. Good luck not rattling the **** out of your car if you don't do this.
As for amp, i have a zx1500.1 kicker amp which you might want to look into. If i was going to power 2, i would get the 2500.1.
good luck.

The 750.1 is sufficient for 1, the 1500.1 is suffiecient for 2, and you could run 3 with the 2500.1
hitituprob 03-06-2008, 01:20 PM its 4 ohm and the box is ported
and yeah i was just thinkin about selling one of them to buy the amp but my friend was like no keep em both
so idk

You're getting in WAY over your head with 2 of those ported, 1 is too much. I would go no bigger on the amp than the Kicker ZX750.1, or if you wanna save a little dough, an Alpine MRP-M800 is a more reliable amp, not quite as ballsy but very good still.
clamsjager 03-06-2008, 01:46 PM i had 2 S12L7's pushed by a KX1200.1 in my crx a while back, they pretty much ratteld the car into pieces, each day somthing new would fall off. i would recomend one of those pushed by a KX750.1 if you would like to be able to hear without assitance in the future.

hitituprob 03-06-2008, 02:00 PM alright thanks
yeah i was thinkin of just using one
kevinw.pc 03-06-2008, 02:08 PM you can just turn the amp down on them. i think one 10 inch is enough

I put 3 of those, PORTED, in a customer's riced out CRX, it was stupid, even all the way down on the sub control it was obnoxious . The SS components up front sounded like they were coming through a fan anywhere above 1/2 volume
CPTsWRX 03-06-2008, 02:41 PM With those big a$$ speakers you're gonna need a big a$$ amp too! Go big or go home, who needs to hear when your older anyhoo;)
clamsjager 03-06-2008, 02:57 PM those bastards hit friggin hard. didnt need ac either the ports let out right bwehind the seats, got a nice breeze from them. thos are SPL ported boxes. sold that set up to some tard with a cutlass for more than i paid.
lowranger 03-06-2008, 05:22 PM why would anyone want a solo barac if they listen to it every day. those subs are not ment to be musical.
i say sell them

I'm sick of everyone talking crap about those woofers. They're not 'SQ' woofers, but they sound damn good when done properly, and they haul ass. I've done hundreds of systems with these woofers that would make you change your mind, most of them with 8's and 10's.
1sick07 03-06-2008, 08:03 PM I have two 10" L5's in my car and I absolutely love them!!
LastResort 03-06-2008, 09:25 PM I wouldn't touch a square woofer with a 10 foot pole. Many unnecessary design compromises for a few square inches of cone area.
The amps are solid though, I hear.

Agreed. In actuality the subs are pretty good in response time. Ive heard a lot of other "high-end" woofers that are much muddier and slower than these. The square face increases cone area so an 8 is really like a 9 and 10's are really like 11's----not exact I know... but I really dont want to do the geometrical calculations right now.
I might recommend you go sealed with the 15. It'll still pound....HARD.. and maintain a good amount of musical quality (However small w/ 15's)
I had 2 12L7's in my old SUV and I still am trying to get that good of a bass response and dynamic out of my system. Really...
Someone was recently asking about "punchy tight" bass and looking for suggestions on subs. One 10 or 12 in a sealed box w/ good power to it would for sure be punchy, tight, and low..

i have no beef with 8's and 10's....
15's? come on. even YOU have to agree somewhat with me,.
1sick07 03-07-2008, 12:20 AM Yeah the 15's are ridiculous! I have a friend who works at a car audio place that has a custom box in his Yukon with one L7 15, and by god is it waaaaay loud! It's just a little over kill IMO. Needless to say that two of them plus a box has got to weigh a ton!

Strictly speaking 15", yes I agree. I still think it can sound quite good IF DONE PROPERLY, but you'll never see a 15" in my car unless I'm taking it somewhere .
For example I sport a 10" Alpine Type-X usually, but my car is in 'track mode' right now  , and because I can't be without
my tunes even at the track, I have a 10" Type-R in a small sealed box. But in my last vehicles, I've AlWAYS sported a pair of Kicker L7 8"ers with entirely too much amp, and they were freakin incredible (relatively speaking)
lowranger 03-07-2008, 12:34 AM i used to have 4 l7 12's (when square first came out) in my ranger, i wasnt too impressed by them really. i prefer my diamond mac daddys.audisavvy, if you ever heard my macs in my trans line box, you would be amazed at my sq

I agree with the power aspect. I'm running an L7 10" right now with the 750.1 on it. I think it sounds really nice, a lot more crisp than I thought it would. I would rather err on the side of caution and have some extra power as opposed to too little.
Aaron'z 2.5RS 03-07-2008, 02:10 PM You know what this thread reminds me of.....

Too much is just enough. I put 2 of those PORTED in an extended cab Toyota pickup. The box had to be built in 2 sections and assembled INSIDE the truck. We welded 1/4 square steel tubing (8 pieces) across the roof, and in the doors, and doubled up the steel on the back wall. We powered them with 2 Alphasonik 1200Ds each (2400 RMS). We had complaints from the gas station about 500 yards away, as well as a church about 1/8 mile away when we were tuning the system, and that was just to break it all in . Ahh, those were the days.
