Bought a Koyo rad from a place here in Canada to replace the leaking (and probably original) rad on my 92 Legacy Turbo. I've been dealing with a coolant leak for the past few weeks now, and just today discovered that it seems to be coming from the new (in October) Koyo all aluminum replacement rad.

Has anyone else had a problem with them leaking from the joint between the tubes and the end tanks?

I'm really fed up right now - the warranty involves sending this one back and then they'll send another one. How the hell do I drive my car to work every day without a rad?!

I've emailed the place I bought it from to see what they suggest.

If you press them, they might send you a replacement first. They might ask for your creditcard number to ensure return of the defective product. Be assertive, and maybe they will give you a call tag paying for return shipping of the defective product.

Yeah, I'm hoping they're at least willing to send me a new one first. I'll see what tomorrow brings in the form of a reply.

Hose clamp has been tightened a couple of times. I'm going to recheck everything tomorrow, as I discovered today that it only sprays just after driving it, but not when its been idling for a bit. I'm still not ruling out (and praying that this is the problem) that there's a pinhole leak in the hose or the clamp still isn't tight enough.

And thanks for the replies! I was worried this wouldn't get any views being in the Old School forum

I had leaking hoses on my Koyo all aluminum radiator. Factory clamps + Samco hoses = LOSE. So switched the clamps to worm drive clamps and voila, no more leaking. Although the other place that I've read that the Koyo can leak from is the drain plug. Check that bad boy out and see if you can tighten it a little.

You used wormdrive clamps, on silicone hose?

You used wormdrive clamps, on silicone hose?

Yes. Couldn't source anything locally, T-bolts might be to wide and sit on the little hump instead of the indentation. Nothing is cutting into the silicone yet. I'm looking at eventually getting 'silicone' safe wormdrive that have a protective sleeve inside of them. I also looked for those wire clamps like the ones that come with the Cusco hose set.

at first i had a leak, but i discovered that i had to tighten the bindings a little tighter and after that i had no leaks. also make sure that your hose is pushed in all the way onto the radiator.

I had a leak in my 92 legacy koyo i used on my ej20g after only a few months, It was leaking from the end of one side, from a very very inapparent crack, but it was bubbling out. I called the company, and they would not warranty it.
