Does the stock Legacy air inlet section (big plastic wedge on the photo) fit on the Imprezas? Could be the easiest step to give a bit of fresh air to an OEM intake without making it any louder...

I have thought about it but that is about it. In theory you are taking in fresh cold air rather then warm air from the engine bay.

i thought about this also, but with the WRX trumpet not the legacy one... the only thing is on the 05-07 impreza's at least, there is a rubber seal on the underside of the hoods leading edge which makes me think it would choke this type of intake design without removing/modifying the rubber seal. if it didnt choke it, it would not give it the outside air that the legacy and wrx's are getting, at least.

The underside of the hood on my legacy has a small plastic lip to divert air into the hood scoop

I think the wrx's may have that also. depends which year and which model impreza the OP'er is asking about I guess.

Well I have a 2003. From what i've seen though, the WRX "funnel" goes into the fender for whatever pipe/snorkus is there...whereas on the NA, there is no intake section in the fender - exactly as in the Legacys...

my NA (07 2.5i) has a snorkus in the fender, thats why i was looking at the WRX trumpet but thats not the issue really, its if there is any cold air available @ the trumpet mouth or if there is a seal between the hood and grille that would be closing the trumpet off to the outside air.
