Im sure i will get thrashed by a bunch of nasioc users but i couldnt find the answer to my question so im asking it.

I have an 05 sti and i was wondering what the capabilitys were of my motor. I want to make about 500whp with a Gt35r will it hold (the motor). i will do all the other neccesary things for the upgrade and i do have money for upgrading the bottom end but i figure why fix it if it aint broken. Thanks for all the help. Doug

Read this SubieSport Magazine article for a little insight on running a stock engine at the power levels you seek.

We ran a stock engine in our Time Attack car at a number of events with great success. Don't think of your stock engine failing at a given power level as that really isn't an accurate way to measure it's strengths.

Built motors can handle more abuse and aggressive tuning where the stock engine requires finesse, superior tuning, and exceptional parts to avoid mishaps that will take out a stock engine at those power levels.

Thanks,
Phil

500hp with a good tune will run all day long. Good tune being the key though.
