I still feel depressing the clutch pedal is quite hard. Is there any suggestion how we can lower the amount of effort required to depress the pedal?

i bet there is a way to change the clutch pedal effort... might be in the hydraulics or clutch itself though. doubt its going to be a built in adjustment. try asking in the drivetrain forum, but be ready for some harassment since the impreza clutch is quite soft, one of the softest i have driven. And i have had some pretty lame cars. goodluck.

That's my understanding, too. The clutch effort is based on the stiffness of the spring on the clutch itself, as well as the length of the arm that's used to activate the clutch. You can also get some force multiplication from the hydraulics, but none of these things will be adjustable. A different clutch may have a different spring stiffness, but that's about the best you can hope for.

Subaru's tend to have a stiffer clutch when compared to other econo-type/daily driver cars. Stiffness is also based on the clamping pressure of the pressure plate...you get a higher clamping pressure plate, you get a stiffer clutch pedal...however I don't think there's a lighter pp to begin with.

It's electronic in the 2.5i, and is much easier to press down than standard clutch pedals.

i didnt know the 2.5i had an electronically actuated clutch. there is a hydraulic cyl on the trans case, so it must be hydraulic from there to the clutch, but you are saying that the clutch cylinder is electronically actuated?

I have no idea. I just know that my clutch is "electronic"

Well, that's not right. There are two sensors on the clutch pedal. One at the top for the cruise control, and the other at the bottom for the starter interlock.
