look under your accelerator pedal, if you don't see a cable attached to it, and the accelerator has a pretty consistent force down to the flow, then it's DBW.

I think DBW is on all the automatic models, and came to the manuals in 2005 (don't quote me on this, I have a 2005 manual saabaru which is DBW though)

Not all automatic models got DBW, my 2003 Forestes is cable. Older models all came with cable system, new subarus now all come with DBW. IMO I like cable system better.


SubaruMunkey02 your suby is cable, DBW came on later models.

You know it's easier to just look at your throttlebody. It's right smack in the middle of the engine on top, right after hte big black airbox. you see a cable, it's the old style, no cable, DBW.

All 02's were cable throttle and 16bit ECU. The ECU is not flashable, which is I bet where you're going with this.

Look under the hood. If you see those silver throttle cables near the throttle body, you have cable.:D To feel better, pull the cable and hear rpm go up.
