so i was chilling with some suubie guys today. popped my hood. talking about my options. and the sti man throws down this

remove the snorkus from the fender, get some kind of flexible hose, run it through the fender and to the right fog light section, buy a fog light bezel or whatever it is called [the thing that makes the hole]

and presto

so what do you N/A peeps think?

this a good idea?

sounds cool, I would be worried about water and large objects like leaves and stuff bieng that its such a big hole and its so low, but that is what a filters for.

I wanna hear what other people think too so free bump for you.

Removing the snorkus causes air reverberation issues with the MAF in lower RPM's during WOT, Williaty has beat this subject do death in the CAI/SRI threads.

Also, what type/size tubing where you considering? If you want to do an intake I'd suggest poking around in this forum to see what other's have created (most noticeably the hybrid type, which is what I would have done in retrospect) or a straight up CAI (which i have) and deal with the MAF issues until 1600RPMs. :furious:

I was thinking of doing the same with no hose and buying two fog light bezels. This would bring more cold air to the engine and therefore increase performance slightly.
My concern was:
1) would you benefit more from the aerodynamics (normal)
or
2) the cold air (bezels) - on the interstate going 80mph.

I've run a flexible dryer hose from my foglight to the airbox before. The more I thought about it, it was probably a bigger restriction in airflow so I removed it. Air wont flow smoothly through a flexible hose very well.

+1 to keeping the stock airfilter box and getting a SRI like pipe from arifilter box to throttle body. Dont forget about the MAF sensor housing.
