FINALLY TIME FOR SOME GOOD POWER UPGRADES!
After talking with my good friend and Subi "know it all" Jeff Perrin I have decided to make room in the budget for the PERRIN Equal length header we make. He swears it'll spool the turbo sooner and have decent gains even on the stock turbo, and it'll even be more of a benefit for the UPGRADED snail we have planned. ;)

The header is NOT a simple bolt on for the WRX as it needs a few OEM Subi parts to go with it (the header is designed for the STI). I needed to get the STI Oil Pan, Oil Pick-up tube and decided to get NEW OEM gaskets for the head flanges and up-pipe flange.

To accommodate for the different pan shape the oil pick-up is moved, notice the different shape of the support bracket. (sorry for the blurry picture) The old WRX Oil Pick-up is the darker and dirty looking one.

Here is another angle of the Oil Pick-up tubes. The WRX one has a large open mesh pick-up area, the STI has a smaller opening before the mesh (more vacuum?) Again sorry for the blurry picture :)

Here is a picture of the oil pans. The WRX is the dirty one, I am holding them so they are clocked the same, notice the differences?

Picture from under the car with the oil pan and oil pick-up removed. To install new pan, make sure you clean the mating surface.

Header installation almost done.

Sound clips are coming but opposite of popular belief you can still tell its a Subi Boxer Engine, its just a little mellower.

Yes, a little loss down low but good gains up top. Stock turbo, Stock down pipe.

Click here for results with bigger turbo and 3" down pipe.

Did you change the dipstick too? The wrx dipstick and the Sti dipstick are different lengths.

I would like to know this as well.

Is changing the oilpan a difficult process? I can only assume you drain the oil, then just take off couple of bolts for the pan?

Also, on the Perrin Header, do you have to change the O2 sensor? or is that on the uppipe only? Does the Perrin header match up to aftermarket uppipes?

post up dynos! keep up the great work

IMO, its allot easyier to get at the back 6 bolts on the pan if you unbolt the lower engine mounts and jack up the engine. then use two screwdriver handles as extra spacers under the motor mounts to hold it in position while you work.

yes it bolts up to other up-pipes, you can even use it with some rotated turbo kits
