^^^hmmm. yeah. i posted the original scam alert in your link. I asked for fresh pics of the transmission that he had - he said he couldnt take new pics because it was already with the freight company. When i asked for the freight company's contact info., he never responded.

ebay also sent me a warning that this member may be an info. phisher as well. Be very careful.

i contated a mod to see if we can get this moved to the scammer area.

Sorry about this. I hope it works out for you.

ya, too bad the mods won't sticky the scam thread that was started a few days ago....oh ya I forgot, it is in the "wrong" section, the one people actually read lol.

Sorry to hear about the scamming, but you should really research any purchase over $50.

I agree. It sucks, but the guy has been here 1 month with 18 posts and no feedback here. I wouldn't even think about sending off 3 grand to someone like that.

one simple way to thwart guys simply out to scam (that's not every seller on here - some are simply completely irresponsible when they have someone else's money) is to have them take additional pics of the products...with a slight twist:

make each shot contain the front page of the current day's newspaper - with the date clearly shown. It's just too easy to pull images off of google now and put them up in for sale ads. Straight scammers rarely even have the parts they are plying. This at least (pretty much) guarantees that AT LEAST they have the parts in hand...and that they correspond to the original post's photos.

it's also a good idea to ask other NASIOC members that have good trader ratings and that really know these cars well about the photos in the original FS ads. For example, not everybody may know that the above-pictured driveshaft is NOT from an STi. Most people buying this stuff are non-sti owners looking to swap the better stuff into wrx's and the like. These people may not know that the driveshaft pictured is just like theirs and not as stated. Also, these same potential buyers may not know about the stub shaft transmissions put into many of these 2004 models. A knowledgeable nasioc member may tell the potential buyer to ask the seller for the trans code, as it would seem odd that stub shafts wouldnt be visible in the picture shown above.

i don't know tons about these cars yet, but definitely don't hesitate to PM me if you think an offer looks fishy. I'd be glad to help, as there's nothing I hate more than dishonest cowards hiding behind IP addresses. It makes me want to watch Taxi Driver over, and over and over.......

The previous thread did not concern any NASIOC transactions, and therefore was not appropriate to post in the NASIOC classifieds.
However, information has come to light confirming that NAISOC user "Tha Shocker!" is the same person who has scammed people elsewhere, and apparently has done so with NITROS in this thread. So, it now goes to Scammer Central.

I have tracked this user down to evo forums. And he had a positive rating ont here. 37 sales all great rating. except for one where a part was missing in the package the buyer received.

I did use paypal for this transaction but face it paypal sucks. I will be using www.ESCROW.com going forward.

^^^well, maybe he will come through^^^^ it just seemed all too shady to me.

Face it: some people are just terrible sellers....not necessarily bad people out to scam.

My point was, Mulder, that the other thread was intended to prevent people from getting ripped off. Ideally, everyone would check scammer central before sending large sums of money. Realistically, the information should be in the forums where the scam would actually take place.

I am curious as to how far a really aggressive attorney could take a liable suit against NASIOC. If someone can sue McDonalds for spilling hot coffee on themselves.....

Once again, best of luck in getting what you paid for. Hopefully you paid with a credit card. EIther way, contact your bank as soon as you are certain things are going sour.

Was his paypal a verified/confirmed account? If so, you have his address and real contact information. Take him to small claims, include all the paperwork where PayPal decided in your favor and any other evidence you have. Once he doesn't show in small claims, you'll win by default and be able to garnish his wages.

As for Melvin Boykins. I dont know what his situation is. I am assuming that the CC will garnish his wages.
