View Full Version : 2009 Ferarri Dino revealed?
http://bp1.blogger.com/_FoXyvaPSnVk/R96bPLlFPaI/AAAAAAAAmSY/JWyPquzO6do/s1600/Ferr.jpg
As strange as it may sound, we could have the first official shot of the upcoming Ferrari Dino through a die-cast model website. In particular, GrandPrixLegends uploaded a picture of the car on their site as a preview for Mattel’s 1/18 scale model of the new Ferrari Dino for 2008 that will be priced at just GBP 59 (Euro 78, USD 121).
Mind you, it’s not the first time that a die-cast model company has leaked a picture of an upcoming model on the net –even though it’s not entirely sure that, that’s the case with GrandPrixLegends. Back in 2006, a Chinese toy manufacturer revealed the shape of the Citroen C4 Picasso through a die-cast model months before we saw pictures of the real car!

looks pretty good. kinda caymanish, but it better alot faster since itll surely be way more expensive than a cayman

Correct italian is "dee-no" I think. At least, there was an Italian kid in my neighborhood growing up named that, so i think it's right.
Anyway, according to Ferrari, this is *not* a Dino model. That is, it won't be significantly less expensive than their current offerings.
Onederer 03-17-2008, 08:02 PM I'll take a 246 Dino. not that that one is not hot, and will likely be a dream to drive.
if it ain't got a v-6, it ain't no Dino.
Bryan T 03-17-2008, 08:06 PM I think it is pronounced "Kay-men."

whoosh 03-17-2008, 09:02 PM "Dino" was Ferrari's son that died a long time ago.
Alfredo Ferrari (January, 1932 – June 30, 1956), nicknamed Alfredino or Dino, was the only legitimate son of Enzo Ferrari. Enzo decided to name Alfredo after his grandfather.
From an early age Enzo was grooming his son to be his successor, and therefore sent him to some of the best schools in Europe. Dino studied engineering in Switzerland. Dino suggested to Enzo Ferrari the development of a 1.5 L DOHC V6 engine for F2 at the end of 1955. Soon afterwards, Alfredo fell ill, suffering from muscular dystrophy. While in hospital, he discussed technical details with the engineer Vittorio Jano. Dino would never see the engine; he died on June 30, 1956 at the age of only 24, before his namesake automobiles Fiat Dino and Dino were produced.

Real Dinos are V6 powered. Period.

The Italian letter "i" is pronounces "ee" so you're right on both accounts as long as this is the dinosaur you're referring to....

What do statements like this even mean?
And "real" M3's have 4 cylinders.
These statements are pointless dribble.
A "Dino" is whatever the **** Ferrari decides to call a "Dino". Period.

Our dog's name is Dina Ferrari Superfast American Dog...she was named after Dino, which was my son's favorite car at the time...cars have been since replaced by guitars...he has 2 Fender Strats and is going into sound recording technology.http://img476.imageshack.us/img476/7093/img1049s4bm.jpg

OK, so why not call it some weird name or alpha numeric arrangement like all of the other V8 Ferrari's? Why bother calling it a Dino? Especially since both Father and son have now passed on.
Lantec 03-18-2008, 02:05 AM Always though Ferrari would release it under the Maserati brand

actually per Enzo Ferrari orders, all v-6 Ferrari were to be called Dinos. As the v-6 was his (Dinos) project/idea for Ferrari.
Sure they can call it whatever they want. But it was Il Commentadores wishes. Ferrari tends to be big on tradition.

le sigh...
Its any under 12 cylinders.
Dino 308 GT4 = V8
That's right, they made a V8 "Dino" starting in '73. Guess who was alive then?
That looks so much like a Cayman, I am kinda suspicious.

So the point of calling this one a "Dino" is what? An excuse to sell it as an entry level Ferrari? Unless this is a spiritual revival of the 308 GT4, I don't see the point of calling it a Dino.

I didn't say there was a point to calling this car a "Dino"...its simply a name, a marketing tool, whatever you want to call it.
I could care less.
