i've been logging with rev.774 and decided to update to rev.785. what i've noticed is that many of the parameter names have changed. i noticed there's no longer iam and a few others i was used to logging.

so far i've selected:a/f correction #1, a/f learning #1, engine load (calculated) in g/rev, engine speed, itt, idc, iat, kca, mrp (corrected), maf, maf v, pwdc, lc-1.

are there any other parameters i should log?

did you update the logger defs?

i'm using rev.785 that is hosted on ken's site. i do have the updated logger defs, but i figured that revision already has the latest logger defs.

It works fine, your doing something wrong.

i just confirmed that rev.785 on ken's site does have the latest ecu and logger definitions.

so...which parameters do i log?

Are you trying to select parameters before you have the computer hooked up to your car? I was trying to build a logging profile off of what my tuner sent me, but I couldnt find half of what he wanted me to log. He said to hook it up to the car and the correct parameters will show up, they did. If its not hooked up to the car all it has is generic parameters, but as soon as you hook up to your car it will pull your cars specific parameters out of the logger definitions.

i don't connect to the ecu until thecar is running. i'm just unsure which parameters to log since the defs have changed. it seems some of the parameters i used to log are now missing or have been removed.

No parameters have been removed with newer logger defs. Some have been renamed, although only a few. What are you looking for?

how do you check the iam? other than that, i'm ok now that i've done some reading.

With the latest logger defs it is called "IAM (Ignition Advance Multiplier)*". If this does not show up in the list then:
1. You didn't install the latest logger defs properly
2. You are not connected to the ECU when looking at the parameter list (its based off ECU id, so the logger has to connected to the ECU with the ignition on in order to display the relevant extended parameters).
3. You have a commercial tune in which the tuner or software manipulated the ECU id
4. You have a ROM that is not currently supported by the logger defs (if you can open your ROM in RomRaider for tuning, then this is not an issue. Also extremely unlikely if this is an 04 STi).

yep thats exactly what i was doing once i connected to the ecu all the extended parameters came up and i could load my profile :D

1. i've looked numerous times for IAM, even after downloading the latest updates and overwriting those in the install dir. i'll redownload and try again tonight.
2. i don't connect to the ecu until i've started the car, so that must indicate faulty installation of the new defs. i'll try again tonight though.
3. the map i have is based off an 06 sti rom according to tgui.
4. i have no issues opening the rom for editing in rev.785.

thanks for the help :)

To install the logger defs, you need to do the following:
1. unzip the file
2. copy the logger.xml to the main Enginuity directory (OR v785 folder since you are using the test release) replacing the existing logger.xml file.

Extended parameters will be indicated by an asterisk(*) at the end of the parameter name.

If that still doesn't work, then post up the ECU id shown in the lower right hand corner of the logger when connected.

i attempted to get some logs this morning after reinstalling and updating the defs but ran into a strange issue.

logging only the parameters available before reading the ecu, i have no problems. as soon as i try to log extended parameters, i get intermittent disconnects from the ecu and an error after awhile.

i didn't get a chance to write down my ecu id but i will later on. anyone else run into this problem?

how many parameters are you logging?

nhat
03-21-2008, 06:57 PM
13 without the extended parameters.

i guess i was trying to log too many parameters which overloaded the logger? i'm trying to figure out which parameters are most important to log. i'm just not sure which extended parameters are beneficial as compared to the regular parameters.
