Well, like the title states, I have fuel and spark but my car wont start. The motor is V4sti, and I just rebuilt with new bearings.

My brain hurts from checking everything I could possibly think of so I wanted to get some outside advice to get the ball rolling again.

I just got the motor back together and back in the car today. I had to prime the oil system so I had the plugs out and fuel pump off. Cranked it over till I had pressure. Then I installed the plugs, and just for good measure cranked it again to make sure the oil pressure was still up to par. checked out good. Then hooked up the pump and went to start it, and it barely, barely, barely kicks on one cylinder.

Could the timing belt have jumped? I honestly cant think of anything else.

I can feel the exhaust pulse when its cranking, and it doesnt feel abnormal. And I couldnt hear it pushing air from the intake.

I just want to make sure that there is nothing that I could of overlooked before I tear back into the timing belt.

EASY FIX. I think it could be your lower or upper rotator splint. Look at those, they should be your problem.

I wish it was, would have had it running yesterday.

Jaxx, I checked that too, return line from the regulator, pressure line to the #4 cyl.

Well, Ill check this thread after work. See if i can stir up any more ideas. otherwise Ill check the timing. :sadbanana:

My MAF died on the artist formely known as my 93 WRX, fuel+spark=it still didn't start. Do you have another MAF you can plug in? Past that I would start looking for the more annoying fuses and relays in the car.

Also check your that your crank and cam sensors are plugged in/tightly bolted in. Failing that, check that the cam gear (for the came sensor - top cyl 2/4 side) and/or the crank sprocket has all the necessary metal to read on the sensors. I have not knowingly broken a tooth off the crank sprocket before... (it won't start :P )

I got it running!!

It was the timing. At least thats all it was right.

So I just got a boost gauge in the car and holy cow this thing peaks at like 19psi and tapers to about 17 . Thats nuts!!

I had no clue this was running that much boost. That sound normal for a version 4 STi??

Otherwise she runs great. No oil leaks, no coolant leaks, no overheating. :disco:

My V4 STI did the same thing until it blew up. 1.3 Bar of boost with everything bone stock.

My car won't start after changing the timing belt - and I broke a tooth off the crank sprocket. Is that true it won't start because of that???

Yep. You need another sprocket.
