View Full Version : OAT Wrong

For the last couple of hours, i've torn apart my dash checking plugs, following wires to what I think is the sensor in front of the car. I can't find anything unplugged, or out of the ordinary.

My car has the auto a/c, I recently did a full STi drivetrain swap (I can't say this was a problem before/after). While checking over everything I saw it reading 56F in AZ... yah I wish.

I've driven it around the block after I checked everything... it dropped 1 degree.

I've been searching the forums to no avail, and need as much help as possible to try and figure this out. I doubt it's a complex system, but i'm no EE either.

IAT = Intake Air Temperature
OAT = Outside Air Temperature

I think I found the problem anyhow. The gauge cluster that's giving me trouble I believe came from a TR. Can someone clarify if there is a difference for the wiring to the cluster between the TR and the WRX?

From what i've found, with auto a/c the ambient temp is gathered in correlation with that computer along with the sensor and the without the auto a/c, the ambient temp is from the sensor only.

As soon as I plug in my old cluster, the OAT works perfect.
