I thought so, my wife liked your gas detonating in your exhuast pipe. My wife likes to get Tea and then I take two passes up and down so I stay legal and we go home.

I have about a 5" clearance on a level surface, it makes for VERY interesting angles with dips and such.

GRUMPY514 05-28-2008, 01:14 AM Stock BPV eh?
Looks real nice, I was going to go with that TMIC but Hill recommended me staying clear away from the TMICs since iam going down the meth path.
Looks sleeper as hell :) Nice and tucked away there. any pics of it on before the heat shield>?
Stames_wiltz 05-28-2008, 02:22 AM Here is my old (nickritters new) VF43 next to my Blouch Dom III for comparo reasons.

Yeah, I don't want to spend money on a BOV or overpriced BPV. The stocker is good to about 22+/- 1 psi and on pump I only hit 19.5 psi so I am fine.
TMIC's are nice for spool up response and that you don't need to richard around with your bumper. FMIC is always the better option for more power, but I make more power than is really needed anyway so I am fine with it.
Meth injection wasn't something I wanted to mess with, I opted for race gas and made Great power, I would have made a bunch more but the FP wasn't supplying enough fuel so Christian "detuned" it for reliability. Was making over 350 WHP now I am 339 WHP with race gas and 21 psi peak tapering "for reliability" to 18.5 psi.
bhhamblin 05-28-2008, 03:04 AM car looks clean and simple.
axleon2 05-28-2008, 03:31 AM weak my stock dub r ex is better
axleon2 05-28-2008, 03:44 AM just messin around it is nice
Stames_wiltz 05-28-2008, 12:50 PM car looks clean and simple.
That was the goal :D
GRUMPY514 05-28-2008, 08:15 PM So what your saying is the VF43 is slightly dwarfed by the Dom III lol.
I cant wait :) Hoping to put down a little north of 400whp/wtq

Good F****ing luck. If Christian tunes it you will be lucky to hit 330 WHP

i dont think you guys all understand.IMO the dyno at cobb is a mustang dynomometer. It reads lower numbers its a load based dyno. Now put your car on a dynapack or dynajet and then you can see 400whp, no dyno is 100% accurate thats why i dont see why numbers mean so much. i made 278whp on cobbs dyno and 323 on a dynojet. pretty big difference IMO
TurtleFactory 05-29-2008, 02:49 PM i like the color
jutes85 05-29-2008, 04:55 PM I love your turbo set-up. Mind if I copy it? :D
Stames_wiltz 05-29-2008, 06:17 PM I love your turbo set-up. Mind if I copy it? :D
Go for it, spools like a demon and will make a C5 Z06 go .
I agree with BHHamblin on the Dyno #'s don't matter. Every dyno has a different calibration. Cobbs reads pretty low so 400 WHP on that dyno is going to take a LOT of green.
bhhamblin 05-29-2008, 06:21 PM Thank you ^^^
Stames_wiltz 05-29-2008, 06:40 PM Your welcome!
Honeslty if you have never been tuned at cobb then here are the reality #'s that I have personally seen. The dyno #'s on Cobbs dyno have about a 30% Drivetrain loss from crank to wheels. Agiles dyno in Maryland has about an 10% drivetrain loss. SO if you want to feel good about yourself, add 20% to your #'s and that is your Agile #'s. Note that Cobbs recalibration in 07 was done between March and September(don't know exactly when). They were at a 39% Drivetrain loss.
2.0L
VFxx turbos typical around 220-230 WHP
small 16G similar 220-240 (240 the highest I have seen)
BIG 16G was 230 -255 WHP
18G ... 244 WHP I am sure it is capable of more, but I haven't seen any other dyno of an 18G on a 2.0L
2.5L
Stock STi is around the 225 WHP mark
Stage 2 STi OTS map 270 torq 239 WHP
Stage 2 07 protuned (mine) was 307 torq and 268 whp
VFxx wrx protuned made 264 WHP
18G's around 270-285 depending on TD05 or 06
20G's are around the 280-295 mark depending on TD05 or 06
FP Greens are 280-300 whp one person I have seen, the dyno had 355 with Race gas
Dom III 312-340 whp (I was making over 350 WHP on mine with race gas, but the FP couldn't supply enough fuel and My AFR's were getting too high so it was detuned for reliability. :(
GT35R 325-372 whp. the 372 was on Race gas
Haven't seen an FP red, but I would just get the GT35R instead.

There is an older viper in town that always pisses me off. Not that I'd win, but I would make him sweat just a little.
You mentioned that a 65mm intake is big enough, was that the cobbs recommendation or just thinking out loud. Also, any reason you didn't bump the boost to 24psi, which seems to be the sweet spot for the turbo?
Thanks.

You might be surprised! I was only a 0.1 sec off of the same time in the 1/4 mile as a 2007 Z06.

Thanks.
The 70mm intake is causing a turbulance effect that cannot be tuned out, plus the 70mm is big by the cone filter, but tapers to the same size as the 65mm after the wheel well anyway.
I would have love 24 PSI, but the FP wasn't supplying enough fuel at 22 psi tapering to 19 at redline. This turbo is capable of maintaining 24 psi at redline, but Christian is really a conservative tuner. He did want to target 24 psi though, he even said so, but the AFR's wouldn't let him. He thinks that it is either a bad FP or something like that. I just didn't want to go through the install of another one, buy the race gas again and tune again. Plus 339 WHP on cobbs dyno is actually a pretty good amount of power.
jutes85 05-30-2008, 12:24 AM Numbers are nice, but I'd rather go by the butt dyno, it's more accurate. ;)
One more thing, you figure the bigger TMIC is necessary? I mean if you are only pushing 22psi, which I would do aswell since i'm looking for reliability, won't the stock be enough?
Was there a bigger diff going from stock to stg2 or stg2 to this set-up? i know the answer, but just wondering.

why would you even ask if a stock heatsoaked TMIC is good enought for a GT30?
jutes85 05-30-2008, 01:53 AM I've seen 20G's with nice numbers on the stock tmic. Whether or not it was heatsoaked is a diff story.
GRUMPY514 05-30-2008, 05:27 AM Good F****ing luck. If Christian tunes it you will be lucky to hit 330 WHP
Hill will be tuning, yes there are many variables with the dynos.
HOVA, made 404whp on Agile's dyno and thats w/o meth...
So yes I hope to make around 430ish? on their dyno.
Yeah the cobb dyno is redic underrated from his dyno numbers lol. The butt dyno is always best as said.
Stames....Was the FP you had a stocker? Or did you go with the Walbro 255lph?
Stames_wiltz 05-30-2008, 11:46 AM I have the Walbro 255 lp Fuel pump. Hill does good work, you will be happy with the tune.
Yes the the bigger TMIC is necessary. The smaller the I/C the faster the heatsoak, the faster the heatsoak the less consistant power is made. FMIC is best for maintaining Temps, but I did't want to hack my grill up.
Plus the Stocker TMIC doesn't flow too much.
I have a test I do on I-215 going west towards Redwood road. There is two green signs on the free way that are about an 1/8 mile apart.
With my WRX stage 2 from 75 mph I could get up to about 96 mph.
with my 16G on the 05 WRX 75-102
Stage 2 STi, 75-106
Dom III STi pump gas tune 75-114
The difference between my Trap times with pump gas and race gas in the 1/4 mile is 6+ mph. I will have a better average tonight as I am going racing!
I have had pretty consistant bumps in power since my Stock 05 WRX and the Dom III is enough to take down a C5 Z06 from a freeway roll on Pump gas so I am pleased with it. I will leave a stage 2 STi pretty easy.
bhhamblin 05-30-2008, 12:41 PM stames what injectors and injector duty cycle are you running?
Stames_wiltz 05-30-2008, 12:59 PM 750cc inj from Deatschwerks at 82% IDC on pump gas 84-85 on Race. I have a lot of headroom.
GRUMPY514 05-30-2008, 03:07 PM Yikes kinda scarry hearing that your FP may have been getting maxed out.
Perhaps it was just a faulty one? I was told the 255lph should be good for 400+whp. Hmmmmmm...
So your able to beat a C5 Z06 on highway roll? Pretty impressive. See if you can find a C6 vette and see what it does. Not the Z06 of course lol that wouldnt be pretty, espically on a highway.
Stames_wiltz 05-30-2008, 05:10 PM the C5 Z05 is 405 hp and the C6 was 400 hp, now is 430. On pump I know the 430 hp corvette will take me, they are lighter.
jutes85 05-31-2008, 01:48 AM Didn't notice in your mods if you are running an upgraded clutch or not.
fastbluewrx07 05-31-2008, 07:35 PM Good F****ing luck. If Christian tunes it you will be lucky to hit 330 WHP
HAHAHA SO TRUE!!!
But he is very conservative and doesnt want your car to blow up.

stock clutch still and 11,500 miles
I just got this though...

The fastest C6 Z06 time I have EVER seen there was last night, 12.8, I win!
jutes85 05-31-2008, 11:06 PM Sweet 60ft.
Did you install everything yourself and drive to cobb? I'd prob save over 1k if i install everything myself, but a tune is like 15 hours away. :(
bhhamblin 05-31-2008, 11:23 PM I was there last night I saw you sitting in front of me I didnt know you ran.
Stames_wiltz 06-01-2008, 02:52 AM I was there last night I saw you sitting in front of me I didnt know you ran.
I did the Street legals before the midnights, That is why I lost  We both ran faster than our dial in times, I just beat mine by more so I lost.

I had Solid Auto Works do it. I don't trust myself with the intake manifold. I just know that I would hook something up wrong.
There is a guy from South Dakota that had Solid do his install and Cobb tune his car and then he went back home. Kind of a pain.
