Picked up my 2.5i last week
this morning, I noticed something I have not seen on other cars (Honda's):
when I cold start the engine, the blue low coolant temp light is on - as expected. then I noticed the idle RPM is around 1500 - and when the blue light is off (the engine is warmed up), the idle RPM dropped to normal range of 700-800.
have you guys noticed this on your 08 2.5i? is 1500 RPM idle normal for a cold start? or there is something wrong with my car? Thanks!

I do notice that my RPM's are a little higher when its cold, as usual. But not 1500. Mine are usually at 1000 or so. I havn't heard to much about other 08 2.5i's idle. Thats my 2c, anybody got a 3rd?

That's what mine does if it's below ~ 40 outside. Above that, it will usually start at ~1000 rpm.

Normal idle speed is 700 rpm, which is correct to the Subie spec.

i might be making it up, but i believe the owner's manual states that it will idle higher until warm, and if you begin driving will shift at higher RPM's until warm. (with an auto)

Mine shifts at 2500 - 3000 when I hit the clutch and shift the gear...its the strangest thing....

The idle is totally normal.

1000-1500, then surges between 7-800 to 1000-1500 until warm, then levels out aroung 700-ish.

That s a noob question though. Have you read through that forum?
