Hey guys,
I have a fuse issue. This is the second time this has happened to me. I'm at a stop, both times at a read light in medium traffic. I check my gauges and all my warnings are on, as if I stalled, but I did not. My will not start. The first time a mechanic pulled over to help me out and figured out the problem, it was one of my fuses in the engine fuse box. I have yet to figure out what fuse it is, but he switch it with another 30 amp fuse and it worked. It is labeled SBF no.6 in the fuse cover and in the Subaru manual there is no information about this fuse. I'm not sure what is causing this shortage. If anyone can help me identify what this fuse is for it would be great. The first time it happened around last summer, June-July 2007, and it happened again today. I was stuck in a 4 lane highway and my steering wheel was locked. I also had a boost guage installed about 5 months prior to the first shortage. Do you think that would case a problem? I'm scared to take it to the dealership, because they could blame it on that, or void my warranty. Please guys i need help!!
Thanks in advance,
Matt
This is the where the fuse is located.

SBF-5 FUSE BLOWS ON 2005MY/2006MY IMPREZA VEHICLES

If you come across the above problem on these vehicles, check the rear harness where it runs under the rear seat on the passenger side of the vehicle as a possible cause. If this is the source of the problem, repair the wire as necessary, reroute, and secure it to the crash bar running under the seat.

From a Subaru tech tip

Should be covered under warranty if you are under 3/36

I think the power windows are on #6, you haven't been running all four up and down at the same time have you or locked the keys in the car and had someone jamming around in the door in an attempt to unlock it. Hwy61

Looking at some info for a '04 model shows the Hwy61 is correct about the power windows. It also supplies power to some other areas that have a smaller fuse so if the other fuses are ok then that path would seem to be clear of any trouble and the power window area is the place to check. The fuse ties to the circuit breaker so if that hasn't been tripping then the trouble would appear to be between the fuse and the breaker.

What fuse did he switch it with?

I still think it was the #5 SBF (slow blow fuse) that blew. I don't see how a power window fuse would cause the car to die.

For the 06, it looks like SBF6 supplies the power window relay (as already pointed out) which is MB-12, and the body integrated module which is on FB-33.

Well, if anything Rexygrl posted is true, you should be looking for pinched wires from under the back seat, back...

Maybe the rear seat was removed at one point and when it went back in, wires got pinched... It's a start..

I was haing problem similar, but not the same, and founf my trailer "pig" was resting in a pool of water in my spare tire well...:eek:
