Here is a look inside the build of the Takata time attack car built by P&L motorsports, this car has already been blasting away its compition in the time attack curcuit. The driver James Elterman is such an outstanding driver and all the credit just cannot be given to the car. I will keep this updated as we get futher along in this build, also check out some of the write ups James is adding to this build.

Preparations began on May 14th. We will be shaking the car down at Autobahn Country Club in Joliet, Illinois at a NASA Time Trial on July 19-20. Shortly after the Takata Team will make its Time Attack debut at a Redline Time Attack at Nashville Super Speedway on July 26-27.

Roll cage is just finishing up.

The engine is in the car and the paint job is looking sick. The detailing will be done next week and the car should be ready for its debut very soon.

The wheels are 17X10's he did not know that offset. Hope this helps.:)

Yes he has put them on, it still sits up, but it will get taken care of soon.

No widebody in the rear, want to keep the car in its time attack class.

The Fenders are seibon carbon fiber fenders, and the fitment was great.

The car is an 04 STI, which came with 5x100 hubs from the factory.

The car is just about done, the only thing left to do today is slap hood and the vinyl on the car. Man i must say the car looks sick just the way it sits. We finished tuning the car this morning with a very conservative tune but it still put down some pretty good numbers, which i will release monday after we deput the car at Nashville superspeedway for the redline time attack event this weekend. The car is an absolute masterpiece. I've seen a lot of Scoobs in my day and this one takes the cake for sure! It's tearing up the track in Nashville as we speak, I can't wait for the results either!

We were on hand this weekend to help in doing it's shake downs and in typical form, James completely dominated his class!

Tuning is SUPER conservative at 16PSI on 93 and 20 PSI on race gas. We know the stock motor will eventually die, so we're just taking it nice and easy for now. If the motor last through the season, GREAT!

IIRC the car is on Cusco Zero 2 R coilovers, upgraded sways, links, etc, etc.

The wing will bolt up where the stock WRX holes are.

It was built to run in the Redline Time Attack Modified AWD Class. James also competes in NASA events, but I am unsure as to which class he is registered.

Nice build! The cage design is very nice. As far as the welds go, shouldn't the welder have added a bit more fill rod to them? Some seem to dip down into the pipe and with this being a structural support i'd figure you would want a nice "roll of dimes" that would look to be sitting on the pipe rather than dipping into it. I'm not a welding expert by any means, I do a little here and there, just some speculation I guess. Would hate to see someone get injured because the cage gave way!
