Turns out the wedls are gone on the heat shield so the pipe would rattle like crazy. Poor attempts to reweld resulted in a big gap in the shield, local welders were not interested in trying to fix it. Who would go through the trouble of installing an up pipe like this, only to waste gaskets and time for a noisy pipe? osirissirhc claims this is not a problem, he in is in no way willing to work out a solution. He also replaced the studs with something that is far too long to use in a Subaru, they hit the downpipe. So, osirissirhc is a scammer. Once he got my money he refused to cooperate. He acknowledges (now) that the pipe needs to get rewelded but that's not what I agreed to buy. Please add osirissirhc to the scammer list, and buyer beware. Video showing broken heat shield and the clear rattle it would make if installed as is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oX_mQhTQMME Broken weld, large gap in heat shield that rusted away: http://s432.photobucket.com/albums/qq41/snowphun/?action=view¤t=uppipe1a.jpg d1a9j 08-31-2008, 06:00 PM damn thats shady. cbanG 08-31-2008, 06:04 PM good luck with that snowphun project_skyline 09-10-2008, 12:33 AM I know the seller and the donor car. Out of the five of my friends with sti's all their uppipes have had the heat shields broken and none of them rattle loud enough to hear. They come from factory with small TAC wields that brake without much trouble. Also the studs were gotten at our local subaru dealership, they were the same size as the original. There is no reason this uppipe would be deemed unusable. Snowphun 09-10-2008, 07:46 PM Again, the part was sold as being in good condition ready to drop in, not one that had been poorly "repaired" and rattled. The seller did not mention this, that is misleading and fraudulent. He knew I was in a bind and needed a 100% working part ASAP, not something that might be usable with effort and a professional welder. Other people have complained of these parts rattling with the broken heat shield, this one would clearly rattle. Explain to me how that is a usable part? Given all the work it takes to install an up pipe, no one in their right mind would mess with this part without getting it fixed. Studs: clearly longer, they hit the downpipe, no chance of clearing. Obviously this isn't the main issue here. http://i432.photobucket.com/albums/qq41/snowphun/studs.jpg |
