View Full Version : Anyone going to SEMA this year?
mattmac 09-07-2008, 05:06 PM I am attending SEMA for the first time this year. Ill be there for the whole week with a couple buddies from work.
It will also be my first time to Vegas. Any suggestions on what to see and where to go??
Too bad I wont be going in my car but im sure ill still have fun.
truenosan 09-07-2008, 09:16 PM I plan on going. But can't confirm that just yet.
I've been too many times, I was pondering going again this year but figure I will get bored on the first day and end up gambling. If you HAVEN'T been it is a must see, if you have been 4 times....either go and get a fat person wheelie cart or don't go.
Doraemon76 09-08-2008, 04:20 AM What are the dates of the show this year?
dasnowman 09-08-2008, 01:23 PM The dates are Nov 4-7th 2008
You must be a vendor, buyer, or part of the press to go to this show. So this show is not for the general public. I went last year to Semaand it was cool seeing all the new stuff and trends coming out. And new car release's, are a bonus sometimes. And I have been to Interbike 4 times which has more free stuff, less suits, and free live bands and parties to go to!
As for show's there is the new Chis Angel with Circus Del Sol. And one of my favorites Spearment Rino.. Or just to walk around and check out all the hotels almost everyone has a free show or attraction.
mynxi 09-09-2008, 12:18 PM I want to go, but I'm the 'general public', anyone got an extra ticket or two?
fukamoto 09-09-2008, 02:01 PM Jo, I got my ticket but if I can't take the days off work, they're yours.
mynxi 09-09-2008, 06:49 PM Thanks Derek! :)
dasnowman 09-09-2008, 09:36 PM Usually it is a pass with your name and company name on it and it states if your a vendor/buyer. To get the ID/pass you usually need ID and a business card unless things have changed since last year!
Mynxi you can probably just smile and say your a model for one of the vendors and you lost our pass and they will let you in!
fukamoto 09-09-2008, 09:59 PM I guess you just need to know the right people :)
mattmac: Vegas is Vegas. I've gone there five times in the past two years. I love it. Stay at the strip. Check out the buffet at Bellagio's. Go to Tao/Pure if you're into clubbing (bring girls or be prepared to pay upwards of $2k worth of bottles to get in). Go to Rhino's for the strip club.
dasnowman 09-10-2008, 02:26 AM There usually is a Flat four meet and show one of the nights it was a some famous Vegas burger joint last year. Anyone want to meet up and go to it while down there? That's if I can get away from all the meetings and dinners I have booked!
Yes bottle service is usually they way to go no matter where you go. We usually have 7-12 people and it does work out to be cheaper, get better service, reserved table, etc. You can also get free tickets, vip passes from limo drivers, cabbies for certain bars clubs etc.
mynxi 09-10-2008, 12:15 PM Hope it works or else I'll sneak in somehow... :D
YJGUY 09-14-2008, 01:57 PM I went last year for the first time and am going back again this year. A friend owns a little shop and he registered me under his company. Last year I didn't have to show any ID, they just mailed me my pass and I was good to go. Since I'm now an alumni, I just registered myself online this year and also got a pass for my wife.
It was a great time last year, my feet were killing me from all the walking but it was worth it. Got to meet a bunch of Celebes (50 Cent, Foose, UFC fighters (GSP, Rampage Mat Hughes) Will Castro, Stacey David, Danica Patrick, Mario Andretti and Boyd Coddington). There is just a crazy amount of cars, trucks and jeeps to look at.
I stayed at MGM Signature Suites last year but I think I'm going to go a bit cheaper this year and stay at Ballys. Nothing fancy but it's in a good spot and is clean.
Last year I was there by myself but ended meeting some folks from Houston and hung out with them for a few nights. I did go and see the Cirque show KA at MGM. It was pretty incredible. I think I'm going to book tickets for O this year. Going to do a helicopter tour of the Grand Canyon as I didn't do that last year.
We are going to rent a car and do a bit of touring as well. Head back to the Hoover dam so my wife can check that out. I went last year and it was pretty neat. It's worth taking the $12 tour so you can go inside the dam and see how it works. Also going to Area 51 and up to Death Valley National park. I'd love to go to Phoenix or Anaheim for a hockey game but don't think I'll have time.
Annyway, there is a ton of shows and attractions to visit there if you have the cash. I'm sure you'll have a good time.
