Hey All,

I've seached all over the place and cannot find the answer to my problem

First off I drive an 02 WRX

What seems to be the problem is that the end of the headlight/turn signal stalk is sort of loose. This is causing the headlights to flicker rapidly and sometimes even shut off until you wiggle the end of the stalk.

I pulled everything apart today and cannot get into the stalk?? I can get the whole arm off and out of the car but cannot get the end of the stalk to come off??? I got a DIY fix for this from 2.5RS.com and in the description it says there should be a metal ring that 2 plastic pieces clip into. When you release the plastic pieces from the metal ring, it should allow me to pull the end of the stalk off. I do not believe that the 02's have this ring.

Has anyone taken this apart before?? or know how I should be able to take the end off???

Any and all help would be appreciated !

THANKS GUYS!

I thought that I was the only one this was happening to, so I never posted before. I own an 02 wrx I've had since new, and now when I'm driving at night and signal a lane change it causes my headlights to flash on and off rapidly also, but it's even worse for me because I have a $1200 Hella hid system attached to it. I find it helps if you hold the stalk lower down closer to the steering column and push from there, that way you're not touching the end where the problem seems to be! Hope someone can help with the fix for this, cause it drives me nuts.

RexyGirl- do you have too much info to post in this thread?

I've always thought the problem was caused by a faulty contact in the twisting headlight switch. like timeattack said if you grab the stalk closer to the steering column for lane changes it wont make the lights flicker.

Now Travis, is there anyway to fix that contact?

I thought about trying to but then figured replacing the entire stalk may be easier. Im not 100% sure that the contact is the source of the problem. Just my .02

No, it's just that the format of the information I have is not supported on here. It's easier just to email the information.

I been having the same problem lately and its really annoying. My hid just flickers and turns off in the mid of the highway when i signal left or right. I heard the problem is from your combination switch or the turn signal stalk? any of you guys figured/fix this problem? plz help...thanks

I've been having this problem too. I hear a loud clicking coming from the glovebox too. It's intermittent. It doesn't do it all the time, and the lights always come back on, but it's probably something I'd like to fix. If anyone has a good follow up, please include me in on it.

Thanks!

Hey guys - I've been having the same awful problem with my '04 WRX. I wouldn't suggest taking the assembly apart because you probably won't be able to replace individual parts in the light stalk...Frankly I don't think its worth the time.

Look for complete car part-outs on the classified section - chances are you can get a new stalk pretty cheap. I got a new one for $15.
