View Full Version : Angry Toaster's Homegrown 2001 STi swapped Forester S, Nasioc's Top Scoob 010
http://www.pbase.com/image/104282794/original.jpg
I've always been a fan of the older SF5 turbo Foresters from Japan. Especially the STi II and STi II Type M Foresters. After the luster wore off my STi swapped GC, I decided to purchase the N/A USDM counterpart of the sweet JDM turbo Forester. I picked it up for a few reasons, but the main one... how awesome would it be to have an STi swapped Forester!? A month after I got it home, it had it's STi transplant.
It was supposed to be a quick project. Swap the Forester and go back to making the GC a dedicated track car. Well, the GC is still sitting in a corner of my garage while the Forester receives all the attention.
The Forester has gone through a lot of iterations during it's life span. Mostly all of which are performance minded for road racing. As it's one thing to build a performance car, but it's another to actually track it.

blazzin06wrxdude 10-08-2008, 01:18 PM Very nice forester build!
DrewDeezy 10-08-2008, 01:42 PM simply... beautiful.
anubis328 10-08-2008, 01:48 PM That thing is the poop!
Gray Ghost 10-08-2008, 01:53 PM Wow!
Tenacious Bee 10-08-2008, 02:01 PM Angry Toaster, I talk about your car at least once a month. The uniqueness alone makes it one of the top Subies in the country imho.
jmack6646 10-08-2008, 02:03 PM That thing is sexy. props on the build
Ultimateone 10-08-2008, 02:14 PM awesome!
obs2008 10-08-2008, 02:37 PM sick ride man, that is the best lookin forester iv seen. that pic with the r/f wheel off the ground is just bad. you should blow it up and put it over your bed:D
Broken Motorsports 10-08-2008, 02:43 PM Congrats! I enjoyed looking at it in person ;)
impreza_GC8 10-08-2008, 02:53 PM Inspiring. Wish there were more Forester enthusiasts out there who went this direction with their cars.
JoeSUBARU 10-08-2008, 03:05 PM WOW thats is super slick!!
greenshoes3 10-08-2008, 03:06 PM Whats the point? So what, its a fast forester, it has no physical advantage over an impreza on a race track.
Big_DeWeY 10-08-2008, 03:27 PM Whats the point? So what, its a fast forester, it has no physical advantage over an impreza on a race track.
Sure it does. He can haul 10 large dogs, all the groceries for the month, 2 or 3 cases of beer, and a large grill AND STILL rip around a track.
I'm not a Forrester guy at all but I think it's fantastic. Props man!

What a douchebag comment.
I don't think the post was to say "Foresters Rulez Teh Trax."
I thnk it was to show everyone how the OP's dream of an STi-swapped Forester became a reality.
Why bother commenting on a post, when you have nothing but negative, unfounded coments?
If the OP was like, "Look out STis and WRXes! The Forrester STi will dominate your car, beat a Lambo around the skidpad, and drop more panites than Brad Pit!" then I would probably agree with you.
Instead, you've just added another useless comment to an otherwise cool thread.
To Angry Toaster: BAD ASS! That's all I can say. I was envious of Davenow's FSTi clone, but now I've found someone else to hate!
I think my next Soob will be an FXT, though going with the NA car does have advantages (price, insurance, weight, etc.).
Congrats on one SICK Subaru.

That is a nice looking forester, I like the old ones way better than the newer bloated ones.

I'd say because it's a bad @$$ sleeper myself, but really it's all in what you like.
pondomoto 10-08-2008, 04:00 PM looks good besides the person who mounted the tires...
The red dot goes to the valve stem (makes balancing the wheel much easier...)
Otherwise, SICK RIDE!

blueVTsubi 10-08-2008, 04:41 PM thats one amazing subi. i've always wondered how an impreza would look if you were able to fit a forester from end on it. especially if it was a front end of one of the new forester sports. has anyone else ever pondered over that combination?
smyamaha 10-08-2008, 04:46 PM If I ever get the money together I will make a near clone of that car. one of my reasons for buying an SF was the pics I saw of Angry Toasters car.
all time top 3 foresters ever:)
Mann Engineering 10-08-2008, 05:03 PM I still remember being down there for a weekend to chill and helping him install that brake kit on the car in the late night. hehe. :)
Congrats on being the Top Scoob 010.

EA82TRally 10-08-2008, 07:21 PM Angry Toaster, that is one heckuva Forester you have there. When I looked at it, I was like HOLY $%#^! That is one truly unique ride. I have been a fan of the Forester STi II as well. The worst part is that I have a guy who lives on the street behind mine who owns a black one. My wife bugs me every single time that we pass it on the way home about getting a Forester. Heck the woman is lucky that I let her drive my BG5 Legacy GT(twin turbo) back and forth to work. So I guess I had better keep her away from this article on the NASIOC or I'll never hear the end of it!......LOL. Anway, congratulations on a job well done and one SICK Forester!

Great car.
I have never been a toaster fan....until now. Absolutely beautiful! It's clear that a lot of attention was paid to the details. It has a great stance and just looks like it means business. I would love to see what some of those guys driving around in pushrod V8's look like when you blow their doors off. Yours looks nicer than the Type M Forrester to boot. Great Job!!
MoistDef 10-10-2008, 02:51 PM Awesome car, I love it.

lucien2 10-12-2008, 09:07 PM Whats the point? So what, its a fast forester, it has no physical advantage over an impreza on a race track.
I'm not sure you're right about that. Back when I had an FXT and was doing some research on rims, I came across a post here on NASIOC from one of our well respected members in Japan....the screen name escapes me now, though. White somethingorother, or maybe it was bearsomethingorother. ANyhoo, this person was clearly a track enthusiast, and an engineer, and pretty close to the SUbaru organization in Japan. And his assertion was that in fact the Forester did have an advantage over the impreza during the GC years. With an STi suspension it had the same center of roll, but because of its setup and +48 offset it sported a slightly wider track. It'll take me ages to find that post again unless I remember the person's screen name.

farstar 10-17-2008, 06:00 AM Hello, I am new in this forum. I am a Spaniard trying to learn a bit more about modifying a Forester (which I want to buy, I still do not own it).
First of all, congratulations for the car, it looks awesome.
My second question is: I see from the pictures the car is much lowered than a stock Forester. So, apparently it loses most of its off-road capabilities.
Is it possible to modify a Forester like you have done, but without losing its off-road capabilities? Of course, I am not talking about wheels, but about (1) height and (2) robustness (a Forester is robust, but I do not know if a Forester modified is robust, even with off-road wheels and a bit elevated).
I have seen some coilovers, which are apparently quite good, and have some height adjustments.
Would this fantastic car, with height adjustable suspension and adequate wheels, as able as a stock Forester for off-road?
crisco555 10-18-2008, 02:59 AM hotness... thanks for making my day
WRXlerate 10-21-2008, 12:56 AM Damn NICE job! And I LOVE that first pic :)

With thanks to a generous budget and some good friends, im aiming for an even 400whp and at least 340tork. I'll try to keep the posts updated as i go with the motor rebuilt and swap. but for now heres a few pics to date.

Angry Toaster 10-27-2008, 03:25 PM ^^^Hi Benson. If it makes you feel better, your SF helped me pull the trigger with mine.
Sorry for not replying in this thread... I had no idea it was even here. There is a top-scoob sticky in the members gallery that I've been posting in.
Thanks everyone for the very kind words. It's nice to hear such things from your peers.
I'll have some new engine bay pics in the near future as I'm working on a new turbo build, new wheels, new brake setup, suspension, etc.
Last pic taken of the engine bay before it was gutted...

MarkyD 10-29-2008, 04:15 PM easily one of the sexiest Foresters on the road.

Angry Toaster 12-16-2008, 07:05 PM *should* be back on the road mid January. :(
There is a crap load of custom fabrication going on, so there is a lot of hurry-up-and-wait. Currently waiting on a few things including a back ordered AP Racing master cylinder. New body parts coming from Japan too.
I'm trying to keep the build hush hush until it's ready to show off.
