Part Rundown:
The AccessPORT is a reflash tool that allows us to create custom tuned calibrations (using the OEM ECU’s existing internal maps), then allows you to flash them onto your car. This is done using the OBD diagnostic port under your dash, and the AccessPORT handheld device. With our custom maps loaded onto the AccessPORT, simply plug-in, push a few buttons, and your car is remapped for more power.

Besides the AccessPORT being a great tool to reflash your ECU with, it also can do things like:
* Allow for On-the-fly map switching, with provided maps
* Read/Clear engine trouble codes, so you don’t have to go buy another $100 tool.
* Estimates horsepower and torque, so you can see the increase in power from the PERRIN maps.

Just wanted to post a little more info.

The lower HP graphs are what we got from our STOCK 2008 WRX, on the stock ECU. After an ECU reset to ensure things were ok and running smoothy, the base HP runs were estabolished. Unlike the STI the WRX runs very well in stock form. Like most of the newer Subaru engines, the ECU runs 14.5 AFR while on boost, up to about 3300RPM. This seems very dangerous, but obviously it works fine for low boost levels, and is done for emissions reasons. ZERO knock was heard, ZERO timing retard was seen, it ran very very well. Smooth, maybe not, but that is where we can come into play.

We first flashed the ECU with Cobb's Stage 1 map. Boost went up to 15psi, and tapered back down to 8-9-is at redline. The increase in boost at peak torque (3500RPM) made for an extra 20ft-lbs of torque, and 25WHP at 3500. As you can see, power at redline didn't change, because the boost was the same.

Now it was time to play! With some AVCS tweaking, adding a little more boost, changing boost response, you see what kind of results we got! At 3000 RPM, 65ft-lbs of torque over stock mapping, and at the same point we made 35 extra HP. The biggest gain we got was at lower RPM where the tiny WRX turbo is happy. At upper RPM, the turbo shows its small nature. The boost drops off after 4000 RPM and there is nothing you can do about it.

Also, another concern is the fact that I live close to sea level compared to where you guys work on these maps. $180.00 custom tune is a great deal I have to admit that I would jump on that right away. First I have to make sure my car's engine isn't at risk.

Thanks for asking. Yes we do have those maps as well. I don't have the dyno plots here at the house to post, but yes we have done it.

We are VERY close to sea level (portland, Oregon) so you should be JUST fine.

We would never risk a clients engine for a sale. These maps are powerful but SAFE!

Good question. Don't choose anything other than Ground. We automatically ship next day air. Sorry for the confusion. Just can't adjust the shopping cart to toggle it to sho Next Day Air, but the item code that prints on our end, IS for Next Day Air.
