YO guys. My last thread was on HID's and I dont feel like spending 600 bucks on a retro fit. With that said I believe Philips and PIAA to have some of the top of the line lighting products. Has anyone every tried PIAA bulbs or Philips? And if so what bulbs would you reccommend? Thanks.

Osram Silverstars are the best I've had without increasing wattage an risking melting your wiring. Now I have HID kits low and high beam from mobilehid.com ($225 per kit shipped). I've had the low beams for over a year with no problems. But, with the stock 04 housing and reflector it may not be the best idea. But, if you want bright, nothing compares to HID.
Edit: just called my friend that has PIAA Super Plasma GT-X bulbs on his truck. They are pretty bright and are stock wattage. The 60w is supposed to = 100W and they burn at 5000K which should give a nice white/blue tinted light. But they are damn expensive for halogens.

For you low beam:
First don't even consider HID kits as an option. They are for ricers who like blinding people, and couldn't give a rats ass about light quality, or are too stupid to know what good lighting is.
Second stay away from most of PIAA's stuff unless you like useless blue and purple light. These belong in the same category as those $10 uber-white, plasma, xentron, EBay bulbs. The only difference is they may last longer. These bulbs are the even more ghetto alternative to ghetto HIDs.
Ok now I'll stop being an ass. Osram Silverstars are a great bulb as rally_it_07wrx pointed out. Don't get these confused with Silvania Silverstars. The Silvania ones are arguably the worst bulb on the market. Philips makes a bulb that is on par with the Osram Silverstar, it is called Philips Vision plus. My last purchase was a set of Osram Nightbreaker +90s. They are much brighter than the Silverstar, but they probably won't last quite as long. As far as I know the Nightbreaker is one of, if not the brightest, standard wattage bulb on the market. But I am not sure if they make the Nightbreaker in the H1. I got mine from www.candlepower.com.
For you high beam:
There is no contest here, HIR. They are almost twice as bright as a standard halogen. I picked up a set from that same site. They run about $60 a set, if I recall correctly. You have to trim a little off the tabs that hold the bulb in place to make it work in the 9005 hole, but it is simple.
Check out this site for anything you want to know about lights.

I just bought a set of HIR bulbs for my high beams. No brighter than regular halogen bulbs. I was disappointed.

PIAA's ftw! I have them in my fogs, with yellow rockblocker protective 3m overtop. Good bulb life too, haven't had a problem and they've been in for a yr+ now. 5000k heads w/piaa fogs is boss. You can check out my lighting setup if you decide to swap trunks over in the tri-state section.

For the record....I got the STI headlight housings before I went HID, so I am not one of those driving around blinding everyone on the road. But I still got a ricer HID kit  mostly because of the $400 I paid for the STI headlights. The stockers may R.I.P because I tried to pull them apart to black them out and it went horribly wrong.
