Hi,
Need some help on figuring out the following problem.
My indicatorlights don't work properly anymore, instead of blinking they just keep lit all the time when operating the lever, or put the warninglights on.
Funny thing is that when I put my car on alarm and set it off it does work flawlessly. So I don't thinks it's the relay.
Any idea where I should start looking?
I have a MY99 WRX ( European )
Thanks in advance guys.
Grtz,
Patrick

Flasher. I don't know where it is on a subie. Do the hazards works still? If it does work that means the turn signal and hazard flasher are on different circuits. You should be able to hear a clicking sound if the hazards still work, follow this clicking sound and it'll take you the the flasher. Usually the hazard flasher and turn flasher are located near each other. I will check my car to see if I can get a general idea of where it is on my car. Good luck

Hi Thanks for your reply,
The hazards don't work either, same story.
So it must be all on the same circuit.
Don't think two flashers would die at the same time....unless the origin of the problem is found to be somewhere else of course.
Sometimes it works for just three clicks and jams.
From what I could hear with the dashpanel still on, I see two sort of plastic cans hanging left next to the fusebox, sounds like it's coming from them.
It's quite difficult to locate when they only work sometimes.
Anyway, I will get the panel off tomorrow, and see if I can locate it.
Hope the problem would be solved by replacing them...it's not very convenient driving this way....
**Edit. As a picture says more then a thousand words, if you look at topic "Pink connector next to fuse block - need some help " you can see the "cans" I was referring to. Anyone who can confirm one of these is indeed the flasher of the indicatorlights?
Thanks..

Yes usually they look like cans, on US domestic cars they are small little aluminum can thingees with three prongs that plugin either in fuse box or on the steering column. Some japanese cars have "box relay" lookin' flashers but I don't know about subies. I think you're headed in the right direction. Maybe you can take it out--go the the dealer, have them look up the OEM numbers and that'll tell you if its a flasher or not.

Just found a website with some documents on subie wiring and such.
The Hazard and Indicators are indeed running on the same circuit.
They are referring to the Hazard and Indicator Light Module, which should be located on the bulkhead panel next to the steering-column.
Unfortunately no illustrations but it shouldn't be to hard to find now.
Thanks for your input!
I'll post it here when I solved it....in case anyone else would come accross the same problem.
Grtz,
Patrick.
