I just got my first Subie impreza last saturday, its an 08 hatch, so im new to the fam
& i'v had these hella 500 driving lights that i want to mount on the front somewhere. Im thinking the lower lip on either side of the license plate. But does any one have any suggestions on where and/or how would be the best place to mount these? Or if anyone makes brackets of any kind?
Thanks.

driving lights are meant to be mounted higher than fogs for their beam pattern to be of benefit. I would mount them roughly the same height as the headlights if you can. I'm not familiar with the 08's but i was considering making a bracket for mine that bolts to where the front license plate bolts to.

Wish I had pics but all I did to mount my 500s was to get a length of aluminum "L" angle. 2" by 2" at 1/4" thick,I think I picked it up at one of the big box home improvement stores. Using the stock mounting location for the front license and adding some oversize stainless self tapping screws-six in all I then just mounted the 500s on that as close to the bumper as I could. Do they jiggle? Well, yes but only when I go down a dirt road faster than I probably should. I plan on adding 500 fogs under them using the same bracket but adding some adjustable tie rods from an old radio controlled car to the back of the fogs and using them to triangulate the whole setup. If this works I will post pics. If not then it'll probably be time to bite the bullet and get or make a lightbar. Hope this helps.

Dude if you got pics I would love to see. I have found a place to theoretically mount them, if I can run an l bracket behind the factory grill using the screw plates on either side of the center point. It might look funky because it wuld look like lights coming out of my grill. Oh well, I'm still toying around with it. Thanks for the info!

Yea, they wiggled a small amount. It is a good temporary setup. I ran it the whole last winter, worked great.

cool. The pics help. thanks... do they wiggle enough where you have to readjust them every once and a while?

I think they wiggle when in use more than anything else. I use mine mostly on the hwy (I work 630am-pm or pm-am so it is always dark on the way to and from work in the winter) so I did not have any issues. The few times I have gone down a gravel road/back road, the light bounces around a small amount on the road ahead, but it is not bad at all.

thats cool. well I just got some corner brackets at the store, but i have to redrill them, because they had offset holes. Hopefully all will go well.
