Wanted to provide an alternative to having to buy another uppipe system when you already have a perfectly good uppipe. Especially for thos running the APS system or the GTSPEC/TOMEI 3-bolt style setups. These header/uppipe systems leave the consumer very limited in choices of external wastegate setups. So I thought I would fill that gap and provide some support for those running these systems with bigger turbos and wanting to take advantage of running an external wastegate setup.
I have a few 3-bolt uppipes that can be used on an exchange/core based program so that it will limit downtime for those who use their vehicle (http://www.iwsti.com/forums/vendor-announcements-project-buildups/135022-aps-gtspec-ewg-exchange-modification-program.html#) as a dd and who need to have their car up and running in a few hours. Or for those not worried about downtime you can always ship me your uppipes and I can modify them to run external wastegates.

You will have the option to run either a 38mm or 44mm Tial wastegate. Dump tubes will be routed to the atmosphere. For those wanting to run an external without the noise, I can offer the option of also sending in your downpipe if you would like the dumbtube to be rerouted back into the downpipe. A flex bellow will be incorporated into the rerouting of the dumptube to allow for ease of install and allow for expansion of the stainless steel through its heat cycles.
All material is stainless steel, and tig welded.

Pricing:
Core Charge of $100 which will be refunded when your uppipe is received.

Modifying Fee of $150 covers material/flanges for dumbtube and extension off of the uppipe, and shipping back to you.

Cost of Wastegates:
Tial 44mm $370
Tial 38mm $240
Tial 38mm V-band $260

Dumptube Reroute: $125+actual cost of shipping downpipe back. While I have the downpipe I can also weld in a o2 bung for wideband use for an additional $20.
It costs roughly $40 to ship a downpipe to the eastcoast to give you an idea of shipping charges.

He probably has his own turbo hotside for mockup given you have a stock mounting turbo... VF39, etc..


EDIT::: In for pics of 38MM V-Band mounted. Seems like the size difference between the "old" and "new" 38mm would allow it to be oriented with a better angle in relation to the uppipe for smoother flow.

yep, due to the smaller wastegate i'm putting in roughly a 40* degree notch if im remembering correctly in the tubing that extends off the uppipe. You can see the better angle on the pics I have posted above. The reroute should of been done a week ago, but I'm having a hard time tracking down my flex bellows I ordered :(

Not yet, unfortunately Im still waiting for the shipment to come in which tracking says it will be here on wednesday. So wednesday I'll have pics because I need to get it done asap and back out to the customer who I appreciate for being patient :)

Alright got the flex bellows this afternoon and immediatly started working on it. I just have one more weld to do on the flex bellow and its all done. I use gaskets to stimulate everything fully bolted. Tial 38mm v-band wastegate, hks uppipe, cobb dp.

the hot side can be removed. i have a oem hotside here, which is what you see pictured in the reroute as well.

what kind of wastegate did you want to use, also it might be in the way....if your able to measure from the flange to the flex section i can probably let you know for sure. But most of the flex sections end where the wastegate comes off the uppipe

Im looking at the 38mm VBand. Its on the car at the moment so I wont be able to measure it until I take it off. Any guess from this picture?

thats a tuff one......i think im going to have to say no....the part that t's off for the wastegate goes a little bit below the egt senser location on the uppipes with them.

Hmm okay. Well tell me this, will you guys take a 3 bolt as a core exchange for a 2 bolt? I happen to have a NIB 3bolt GT Spec uppipe that I wont be using, and if you guys have a stock of 2 bolts but only a couple 3 bolts, could we strike a deal? I would happily ship you the 3 bolt first and pay for the work, if you would send a used/modified 2 bolt in return.

Just got my uppipe back from covert performance and was very impressed with the quality of the welds. Wouldn’t hesitate from doing this again and will defiantly recommend this :D

Good news! In my search for a better picture I actually came across one of these headers flanged for a 44mm EWG.

If the original bung is in the way, I would happily pay the bung fee to have a new one welded into the other side. If this is enough evidence for you, let me know and Ill order the headers and have them on their way to you in a few weeks. Thanks.

Looking into dump tube DP reroute.

Covert: I know you have Turbo OEM hot sides but how baout Non-OEM turbos, do we have to send you hot sides for a Non-OEM Turbo, Blouch 18G 8cm2 or the mounting foot-print is the same as OEM?

I think the footprint should be the same. But I cant say 100% that it is. Although I have used my oem hot side when they had a blouch 18g and it worked. But whose to say that they are the same.........

I actually ended up buying the one in that picture when I found it, so the flange is there. Been PMing you and I just sent payment for the dumptube for that header.
