You should contact the seller of your HID kit if you need to find a replacement piece. Dknits782 12-08-2008, 10:18 PM They are the stock hid lights. I teasted everything and everything is ok till that's part Dknits782 12-08-2008, 10:20 PM They are the stock hid lights. I teasted everything and everything is ok till that's part. So I'm going with that's what's wrong Dknits782 12-09-2008, 01:20 AM ok thanks for the info does anyone know where i can get an igniter cord FourOnTheFloor65 12-09-2008, 02:18 AM Ebay, Nissans use the same ballasts and igniters. They are Matsu$hita Gen III ballasts and igniters made by Panasonic. There are several different lengths made though, so be careful with that. Handsdown 12-09-2008, 02:47 AM  you don't want an ebay one. you're testing that wire? you know when it's first igniting, there's 24,000 volts running through it, thus the lightning bolt? i'd leave this to a dealership. if your warranty ran out already, i'd still go to a reputed OEM dealer, not ebay or someone else. you bought an HID equipped car, if you do it right you'll only have to do it once every 90k miles. did you mod the lamp housings at all? I am not telling him to get a cheap EBay igniter. I am telling him to get an OEM igniter from a Nissan off EBay since they are the same thing that comes on his car stock. I don't think the dealer will sell you this part. You will probably have to buy a whole new headlight assembly for about $600. So you can go to EBay and get a used one from a Nissan for under $40 and it will be the same thing he already has. I have bought 2 or 3 Gen III ballasts and igniters off EBay and they all work fine and will continue to work fine since they are OEM not cheap generic HID kit ballasts and igniters. I would also like to know how he tested it. You may need a new ballast not just the igniter. Try switching ballasts side to side. And then switch your bulbs side to side. If the problem stays on the same side when you switch both of these, the problem is the igniter. If it moves its you bulb or ballast. Handsdown 12-09-2008, 06:24 AM you can't get the ignitor without having cut wires. soldering back wires that hold 24kv is not a good idea. you never know what you're getting on ebay. they may be OEM but they could be fried or modded or endless other problematic scenarios... ebay is the last resort. if he wants to cheap out he should buy a kit and just replace the whole setup with OEM bulbs and cheap kit d2r adapter plugs. there's a place that sells kits for 40 bucks, plus 15 for the adapters. FourOnTheFloor65 12-09-2008, 08:12 AM Cut wires? The igniters plug into those ballasts. http://hidexpert.com/410/Mat_ballasts1.jpg Even if you happen to get a bad one you wasted $40 at most. So you have a total investment of $80. Or you could go to the dealer and order a new headlight assembly for $600. Which makes more sense? If you consider spending $520 less dollars for the same exact results with the same exact parts cheaping out, then I must cheap out a lot. It must be nice to have lots of money to waste. Anytime you buy anything used you run a risk of getting a bad part, EBay or not. I don't see a problem with getting OEM HID stuff on EBay. I have gotten lots of retrofit parts there and had no problems. Telling him to buy a cheap HID kit to replace his ballasts is not even close to being a good suggestion. jdubya301 12-10-2008, 12:54 PM to the OP, i have 2 of those ignitor cords that are identical to the ones pictured above. i will be happy to sell them to you. edit: i will sell them cheap too. |
