Kind of non subaru related. We have a car with a remote starter installed. We lost the actual remote starter, remote...
Is there any way for me to find out what setup is in the car and if I do find out is there a way to order a new remote or do I have to have the old setup taken out and a new one installed?
Tweeter did the install but they went out of business :(
thanks

If you look under your dash (drivers side), typically where the brain would be install, check for the manufacturer. If its DEI then getting a replacement remote would be fairly simple. Im not sure about the other brands.

Yea i know where the whole setup is. When we lost the remote we lost a key too so I had to go in and take out one of our good keys and put in a broken one we had that has the imobilizer in it.
Ill check on that. Thanks.

Only company name I could find was "Directed"
Anyone heard of them?
Just found this on the Viper Electronics website:
"Copyright 2008 Directed Electronics"
Sound right? Viper = Directed?

I dont think so, when i ran the install bay at a best buy part time, they sold directed overhead video players. DEI usually marks thier product as DEI. Did you try looking at the actually brain for the remote starter, just follow the thin ribbon harness from the immobilizer to the brain and see what is says for a manufacturer

hey man i just called my buddy that still works at best buy, i guess DIRECTED is DEI, he checked on thier immoblizer bypasses. So you would be able to goto a best buy and pick up a new remote and program it to your remote start (as long as its not 5 years old then DEI may not support it anymore) The instructions to do it come on the package of the remote-john

Cool cool. I am going to run it up to best buy. I know they wouldnt do the install becuse volvos are a **** with the electronics i guess. Only tweeter would do it, but if what you say is correct BB should be able to set it up.
Getting this thing to work on the volvo means my brand new sti gets to stay in the garage! Volvo is my fathers, I am 19 and have the sti, so this REALLY HELPS.
Much apprecaited guys.
Thanks!
